Not like him, but like him
"Lesley" wrote in message oups.com... Smokey's never sprayed in his life. Never once. I was preparing myself for SEVERAL sprays, with Smokey being adult, male, unneutered, feral...but from the day we brought him home, he's never sprayed. He knew he was onto a good thing! Lesley Slave of the Fabulous Furballs I've heard they only spray if there are other males around, and they feel the need to 'mark' to warn the other male off. Perhaps this is why he doesn't...it's safe, so to speak. |

Or maybe it's that Nocturne so totally whipped his ass in the first few days that he knew better then to attempt to claim any of the territory. It took him a few months to settle in and stop acting like we were going to throw him out without warning/shove him off furniture/not feed him. Incidentally, we DID neuter him, but it took about 2 months. I was on military service, DP was working, then after I came back from the base, we went away for three weeks and left Smokey in my dad's care. He was neutered soon after we returned. --Fil |

rec.pets.cats.anecdotes ): Well, over the past couple of days the boxes have been smelling especially evil, and there's been higher than normal litter turnover. I changed the boxes today, and as soon as I refilled the upstairs box, Stinky stepped in, lifted his tail, and deftly sent a jetstream right into the corner of the box, scampered out, and was off. I was stunned! My Stinky! My very NEUTERED, very well-mannered little boy! And it hit me. He has been spraying, but only in the boxes. Shamrock does the same thing. He also doesn't spray anywhere else, but I have seen him spray the corner of the box, especially right after I've put a new one down (I have spare boxes so that when it's time to clean one, I can soak it in bleach and just fill up one of the others while it's soaking). Good idea about the Feliway. Now that Dante is becoming a man-cat (snicker) Stinky might consider him a threat to his place in the home. I'm sure Dante is still a clowny boy-cat! -- Cheryl |
