Default Can Kenzie have purrs, please?

I took Kenzie in to have her thyroid levels checked, and I also had a
full blood panel done, since she is well into being a senior cat now.
She's somewhere between 13 and 14 now, probably closer to 14. I'm her
third human, so I'm not certain of her age. I got her in June of 1999.

Her liver enzymes are considerably elevated (bad) since they were done
last.

Last summer, Kenzie's vet thought her liver enzymes were elevated
because of her thyroid. But now, her thyroid is under very good control,
using Tapezole.

Kenzie's vet wants to run the blood tests for liver function again in 3
weeks, in hopes that they will have gone down (not very likely...).

If they don't go down, then Kenzie will have to have X-rays and probably
an (expensive) ultrasound, to look for possible cancer, or something
else really bad.

I have been out of work since last July, and that is very upsetting.
But, I do get to spend more time with Kenzie, which helps quite a bit
with the 'out of a job depression'.

I am just horribly worried about Kenzie. She is my only cat, and I just
love her to bits, as you might imagine.

Being out of work so long is bad enough, but the thought of losing my
sweet Kenzie is just more than I can bear.

Thank you for purrs and prayers you can send to Kenzie.

Purrs & prayers coming for Kenzie.
Try not to panic.
When Kitty Farmcat was first diagnosed with CRF, her liver enzymes weren't
good either. I managed to keep her going for several years after that with
diet adjustments towards white meat like chicken and fish.
No more regular cat food, she stopped eating it anyway.

If you are trying to improve her liver numbers, ask your vet about the
liver support supplements Denosyl (SAM-e) and Marin (silymarin = milk
thistle), also available in the combination Denamarin. My vet advised
me to get Denamarin for Will, but his numbers came down before I started
giving it, so I have no actual experience with it yet.

Thank you so much for this information! I didn't know there was anything
that could help with elevated liver functions.

I have printed it out, (since I am certain to forget otherwise...) and I
will ask my vet, after Kenzie goes in to have another hepatic panel
done.

Many thanks.

Take heart. The liver is the only body organ that can regenerate itself, and
milk thistle is known for facilitating this.

I didn't know that SAM-e had that property, though. Can a person who
takes SSRI anti-depressants also take SAM-e? (I thought not.)

Thank you for the words of encouragement, they are much appreciated!

I slept very, very poorly, last night.

I got up several times and woke up Kenzie, so I could pick her up and
give her ear scritches.

When I got Kenzie, back in 1999, she didn't like to be picked up, AT
ALL. (I was told this, as well).

Now, she likes to be picked up
