Default Rob update and Purr Request.

Rob was signed into Hospice yesterday afternoon. His new CNA called to
ask if I wanted her to come out and bathe him. I told her to wait until
Tuesday to do it. Apparently the hospice rules have changed due to
changes in Medicare. Rob gets a CNA twice a week. S/he does specific
tasks then leaves. I have to request a sitter or respite carer from the
VA in order to be able to leave for errand running and so forth. I can
also call the hospice center and they will send out a volunteer (a
stranger, that will go over like a lead balloon with both of us) if they
can dig one up. Sigh.

They also delivered Rob's hospital bed today. It is an old 1940s
hospital bed, six feet long, has had two motors attached to run the up
and down functions of the head and foot gears and I was given a hand
crank to use if the power went out. They put the railings on and I
pointed out that Rob would have them figured out in no time and be
slipping his cell. The delivery guy told me I was wrong, that Rob
wouldn't be that smart. Less than thirty minutes from the time I got
him into his new bed, Rob had figured out the mechanism and was out and
staggering his way around the house. I told the guy that the outward,
appearance of his abilities (especially his verbal ability), was no
indicator of what was perking within him. Tomorrow I call hospice and
ask if they can bring in a longer bed with a better system for operating
and locking him within. Again sigh.

On the bright side. Rob currently has two assistants to watch Science
Channel with him. It is almost 4 am and they are still watching the
channel. I asked me if he wanted me to turn off the TV and he got angry
(I can't particularly blame him) and said no. I have Tanada, QC, and
MCG sleeping with me. He has Huey and Merlin sacked out on his bed and
Pine Cone and Sonya making guest appearances. PC was one of the first
nurses to climb aboard and check out the new digs. The d-cat has
decided that we are too many rooms to protect from the hall and has
retreated to the dinning room where he can snooze on whatever he has
purloined from the garbage can this time and keep an eye on the front
door.

Now for the purrs. Along with the above happenings, I really could use
non-specific house purrs as we really need them right now. I cannot go
into it, but it is important to us all here at Pine Cone's Retreat.

Thank You,

Pam S.

I didn't snip because I have an eye problem and can't snip accurately.
We always purr for you guys and will continue to do so. I purr for the
science channel to be better fare than usual, for the sake of Rob and
his associate watchers. Non-specific house purrs have been added to
the program.
