****ty Kitty Update

I once had a male cat that wouldn't bath properly & had bad toilet manners.
He acted like he was removed from his mother before learning how to care for
himself. I had to bath him frequently. He loved it. He acted like he
expected me to baby him. He ran away. I found him a few months later. Living
as a stray and very dirty, just like I had originally found him. I took him
home cleaned him up and the following week he was gone again. Reminds me of
the kind of men I dated when I was younger.

That thought crossed my mind, too. I also wonder if possibly
trying something "off the wall" like garden soil in the litter
box might lure him to it? Might be messy at first, but once he
forms a habit it should be easy to slowly switch the mix over
to kitty litter.

Good luck whatever you end up doing. I've sort of lost track of all
the suggestions but I'm sure someone suggested putting a Feliway
diffuser in the bathroom; it might help.

Gawd! I can't believe this! You're actually contemplating *heating* the
bathroom floor as part of your "aversion therapy", right? Your also making it
smell unpleasant for him in there, right? You say you've made the texture
unpleasant too, right?
IMO, you're in a power struggle with a cat, and you're going to lose.
Quit while you're ahead. Right now, all you've got to do is keep the door shut
and all's well. You screw with this cat much longer and he's going to just
start peeing *and* pooping all over the house. THEN what are you going to do?
STORE the GD historically-significant door and get one that works. Or spend
whatever it takes to get a professional to *make* it work. This is
unbelievable.
