I'm not proud of this, but I am human and once, early on, I was
particularly frustrated and grabbed Odin and smushed his face and feet
in it. Then I had a cat covered in **** on my hands. So I carried him
upstairs to the bathroom there (more family-style, i.e., not as worried
about having feces everywhere) and I washed off his nose and his feet.

Then I marched him over to the kitty litter box he was supposed to be
using and dumped him in there.

Now I had a ****-stained, wet, angry cat in a litterbox of clumping
litter that stuck to all his wet places. (Hadn't thought about that
part.) It was impossible to pick out so now I had to give him a bath (in
the upstairs bathroom sink.)

He is now scared of the upstairs bathroom sink.

Aside from that, I see no other behavioral results from that episode
which we refer to as the Three Stooges Train Odin.

Um, wouldn't pooping on the bathroom floor constitute behavioral results? I
can't help but wonder what effect your "method" had on Odin.

Everybody else in the family wants to keep him, but they don't live in
fear of their clients stepping in **** in the powder-room, nor do they
have to clean it up.

Cats also use poop to mark their territory. Since you have your clients using
what he perceives as his territory, I wouldn't be surprised if marking is what
he's doing. Get the door closer - it's pretty simple.

Well, I certainly wouldn't care if door closer hardware matched my bathroom.
I would think it would hardly be noticable. I would also make sure that if I
was spending that ungodly amount of money on a room, I'd have a professional
carpenter make sure my antique door fit square and worked nicely.
