Things that make you go Awwwww!

I'm reminded of when I moved back in with my parents, briefly, after my
divorce. And there was a baby bunny that made its home in a hole in the
brick wall out front. Dad hated cats (although towards the end of his life
he seemed to like the neighbor cats). Mom and I were secretly feeding the
bunny lettuce and carrots and such, all the while trying to hide its
existence from Dad. We felt sure he'd want to exterminate it somehow,
especially since he had quite a lush vegetable garden growing out back. So
one day I was standing at the window in the den looking out at the bunny and
Dad growled, "What the hell are you looking at all the time out there?
Better not be a cat!" I remember sighing heavily and saying, "Shhhhh! Come
here. Don't scare it!" He took one look at the tiny bunny and melted.
"Awww, it's a baby bunny! Do we have any lettuce?" LOL
