Because I have seen cats who had babies, and cats
who never had babies, and there is a difference.

I have two females that have had kittens and five that haven´t. Now
they are all spayed and there is absolutely *no* difference between
them. I have no idea where you got that from.

I see your point and really understand. I remember seeing a documentary
about that and I was crying and hugging my cats.

You know... It is not the opinion that says we should have our cats spayed
/neutered that I disagree with, although it makes me sad to prive a cat from
having babies once. It is the way it was said to me in the first place.
Telling people they are idiot and irresponsible will not help them change
their opinion and do the right things. I admit it, it was rather hurtfull.
Yes it has reached me and hurted me to be seen that way by the rest of the
cat people. It hurted me that some people couldn't see the love I have for
my cats. Letting her have a litter does not make me love them less. It does
not make me irresponsible and unworthy of having cats. Letting it happen
only says I had information missing. I had forgotten how terribly aweful it
is to see tons of kittens and adult cats die everyday. I had forgotten that
there are so many. No, I am not perfect, and I do not claim to be. I am not
a perfect owner, I am not a perfect person. But I do love my cats and give
them a shelter, love, food, warmth, caresses... care. I also take care of my
neighboors cat because HE is an irresponsible owner and ends up with tons of
kittens because he *never* decides to get them spayed / neutered. I have
talked to him about it. It has changed nothing, so I contacted a special
place where they can take care of it.

I am not trying to justify my actions of letting my cat have one litter. I
am only trying to be seen and appreciated for the good I make, in stead of
being put down for the bad. Have I learned something? Yes I have. Will my
next cats have babies? No, they won't. Yes this newsgroup has taught me
something. Unfortunately, it has come through the wrong way. The hurtfull
way, the kiddish way, when I, as an adult, could have understood very well
if someone had taken the time to explain it to me and give me the facts of
the situation without attacking me from all sides.

I am a sensitive person. I am not just a machine that answers your posts.
Please remember that when you choose your words.

Read my posts again, everyone.. go ahead and read them again. Do I attack
people? Do I put down your opinion? Do I call you names? Am I being hurtful
in my words in any way? If so, I truely apologize because I didn,t mean to.
I am a honest person and I am able to admit that I've done things that
shouldn't have happened.

I'm not looking for a war. There's enough of that in the World. I am not an
idiot, I understood what you guys said. Let's not keep fighting over it now.
We're adults, as far as I know, let's act that way.

My opinion only,
I can hardly see people with children putting down people who let their

cat
have one litter of kittens and telling them they are irresponsible for
letting it happen when billions of cats die everyday and are homeless and
sick etc.
I agree that we have to save the cats and help their population go

down... I
am a cat lover and want their well being just like every cat lover does.
But, frankly, I am much more concerned about the children dying everyday
because they are too poor to eat, or too sick to live, or too unlucky to
live in a good family.

I *so* do not understand your logic.
Have you ever volunteered at a shelter? It's pretty easy to justify

breeding
your cats if you haven't. However, the miracle of birth just loses some

luster
once you witness the miracle of euthanasia.
Your argument about children seems rather moot. ....two wrongs don't make

a
right .Honest. We are killing cats at an alarming rate in this country. It

has
to stop. The only way it's going to stop is if people neuter *all* their

cats.
Spend some time at a shelter, please. I *guarantee* your attitude toward
breeding will change once you watch dead kittens being bagged up.

For some odd reason I can't find the original post to which everyone's been
replying.

But anyway, I have never noticed a difference, either. One of my cats had a
litter - she was pregnant when my sister took her in as a stray; she was
spayed after she gave birth. (*Cute* kittens, btw.) My other female cats
were spayed & never pregnant. I didn't notice any differences that could be
attributed to mother cat status, Vs. personality in general.

I'm sorry the words here were hurtful to you. But it's just that it's a subject
so many are so passionate about. Overpopulation is so critical. Twenty years
ago I alsso thought nothing about lettingg a cat have kittens. I know better
now. I'm really glad you're reconsidering.

Then quit contributing to the problem.

Ok, if that's your logic, how many children have *you* adopted, then?
None? Oh, I see...

The thing is, there are "X" number of homes for cats, and many more
cats than available homes. Every kitten born adds to the problem, and
cats and kittens are euthanized by the thousands in this country for
lack of homes. There is simply *no reason* to breed more when
thousands die every day.

You never hear people telling parents that they are irresponsible for having
children when so many children die everyday.

Sure you do. Maybe you haven't heared people say that, but many, many
people feel that way. That argument is part of the childfree
movement, in fact.

Not that I'm an advocate of arguing humans vs. feline rhetoric, BTW.

But you are blasted and put down for letting a cat do what every female of
every specie is put on Earth for: having babies at least once.

Oh, please. First of all it's "species". Secondly, if you think the
main purpose of females is to breed offspring, then I feel very, very
sorry for you, indeed.
