Default You furry b*****ds

So, I'm about to go to bed last night after finishing some work in my office
in the basement. As I go upstairs I'm shocked to see that the steps are
covered in blood with large quantities splashed on the woodwork, great
smears all over the kitchen floor etc.

Needless to say it was quite disturbing, is one of the cats hurt? Best do a
rollcall, so I call to them, whereupon Emily and Muddy emerge from the
basement and make a beeline for the cat door, while protesting their
innocence. But there is no sign of Mojo, so I went back to investigate. Sure
enough, there he is, lying on the floor, covered in blood! Of course it's
not his blood and he's lying on the floor snoozing after disposing of half a
rabbit! The blood has come from this ritual disemboweling of the rabbit,
this time its not a largely undamaged rabbit, this one is quite literally
half eaten.

My guess, based on previous experience this year is Muddy was responsible
for the catch (he seems to be the one usually caught in possession) and that
at some point a collective decision was made to bring the spoils home for a
little picnic in the basement. Of course they know by now that if they bring
a live rabbit home I'll hear the ensuing ruckus and take it away from them.
So they decided to make sure the rabbit was very dead before bringing it
through the cat flap and sneaking it down the basement.

So now I've got to spend time cleaning up enough blood to give Lady Macbeth
start a turn.

In their defense, the food bowl was empty at the time :-)

Can you include a GW in the subject when you post things like these? Thanks!

I feel your pain. The first time I found my kitchen sprayed with blood and
some serious amount of blood streaming across the kitchen from the kittties
water dish I was convinced they were dying of Warfarin poisoning. I
panicked so much.
Not so.
I cut my phone call to the vet short when he said "Have a look round in
your yard first.."
Yep. Dismembered parts of a collared dove behind the trash bin.
