Default Firewatch in Highland

Talk about weird weather conditions - the southeast is bracing for a
hurricane, and here in Highland we're watching a brush fire that's
burning in the hills near here.

The fire was spotted this afternoon, and was within 3 miles or so of our
house earlier this afternoon. So far it's burning away from, up into the
hills (into undeveloped areas).

We're keeping our fingers crossed that the wind will keep the flame
front moving away from homes. But just in case, I've got all the kitty
carriers sitting out in the living room.

Thanks, Matthew. We sure do appreciate it. And we're doing the same for
you folks in the hurricane area.

Purrs that you won't need them!

That's too close for comfort. Stay safe, stay observant, and the
four send purrs for your safety, too.

My uncle relocated to the LA area some time in the 80s, and he
calls wildfires part of the climate in CA the same way fog or rain
is.

Purrrs on the way, Dan, that the fire burns away from any homes. Purrs for
all the wildlife that might be trapped in the path of the fire as well. Let
us know how you are doing.

The fire burned to the east all night, into undeveloped hillsides. Two
houses were lost early yesterday, but no more structures are threatened
currently. Firefighters expect containment some time tomorrow. Homes in
Highland are no longer in danger.

Scary, Dan. Three miles is way too close. Purrs for no wind shifts for
your safety, and purrs for the safety of the wildlife/people/animals in
the path.
