Talk about weird weather conditions - the southeast is bracing for a
hurricane, and here in Highland we're watching a brush fire that's
burning in the hills near here.

The fire burned to the east all night, into undeveloped hillsides. Two
houses were lost early yesterday, but no more structures are threatened
currently. Firefighters expect containment some time tomorrow. Homes in
Highland are no longer in danger.

I'm glad your home and the others are now safe. Purrs for the families who

The fire was spotted this afternoon, and was within 3 miles or so of our
house earlier this afternoon. So far it's burning away from, up into the
hills (into undeveloped areas).

We're keeping our fingers crossed that the wind will keep the flame front
moving away from homes. But just in case, I've got all the kitty carriers
sitting out in the living room.
