Chocolate cat getting annoying

He seems well fed, although like all the local cats, he could stand to
gain
a pound or 2. Might just be that they are Siamese influenced and have
that
skinny body type. I think he belongs to some neighbours but I can't be
sure
which ones. Over 200 houses in this subdivision, close together.
Aaargh!


Hmmmm. If Vino has gotten so mellow about it, maybe he's trying to
tell you he wants a little brother? ;-)


Ha! I doubt it. He's just not angered by Chocolate the way that he is by
Spot (the other cat who visits). He gets bored of Chocolate and leaves the
room. But I can't see him wanting a little brother. Although he will
definitely eventually get one, no doubt about that! But we really need to
wait until we get to Australia before acquiring another cat.

Hahaha! No way, that can't happen. I mean we could potentially do a foster
thing, but there's no way we'd ever get a Thai "street" cat into Australia.
But he sure seems to have set up shop on our patio. He's been sleeping next
to our BBQ for days now. He must have a house though, because he doesn't
look like he's starving.

Oh, for sure he's trying to invite himself. Many cats in the
neighbourhood
have tried this. But there's no way we can do that. We still haven't
even
figured out how we are going to get Vino into Australia when we leave
Thailand. Too big of a problem to do it with 2 cats...or even more
because
where will it end?

I know sod all about cat importing from Thailand to Australia, but I do know
that its relatively simple to import cats from *Canada* into Australia. If
you can't import Vino (and anyone you happen to have been adopted by)
istraight here, they may be able to go to Canada first, and then come here.

Just a thought.

Why not? If you get him all his shots and fixed etc, and take him the
same route as Vino via Canada where they'll both get passports, then I
can't see it being a problem. Technucally, once his been to Canada and
got all the protocols sorted out there, he becomes a Canadian cat
because he will have been dealt with by the authorities of a country
that Australia recognises as a member of the passport scheme.

Just a thought.

They still have to spend 6 months in Canada waiting for the rabies blood
tests to become valid before travel to Aus. It's technically "house
quarantine". And why my mogs had to go via the USA to come back to the
UK after leaving Belize......

Yeah, I know, that's what we're planning to do with Vino. And we'll
probably have to keep Vino in Canada for 6 months too. But Vino at least
has a medical history with up to date rabies shots his whole life, etc.
This cat has nothing and probably an owner down the street. Not to mention
that it costs us over $300 to bring Vino on the airplane with us (in the
cabin, don't want to put him in cargo). So we'd have to do that for the
other cat, etc, etc. Plus all the shots, paperwork. Just doesn't seem like
something we want to get involved in for a cat that seems reasonably well
fed and healthy, just because he's decided to sleep on our patio every day.
If this cat starts to seem like he's hungry or sick, we can always start
feeding him outside and take him to the vet. I just don't want to steal
him, I'm sure he has a home, but their idea of a home around here isn't what
our idea of a home is. Can't be rescuing the other 79 or so cats in the
neighbourhood who are in the same situation.

Yeah, well if I start doing that kind of stuff with this cat, where does it
end? There are dozens upon dozens of cats in the neighbourhood. There are
about 5 other cats who come to the house sometimes, some more than others.
I'm sure they are "owned", but people here only keep cats outside, so they
roam around. He seems fed and healthy. If it turns out he's starving or
sick, I'll take care of it.

I'd be vewwy vewwy quiet about that. The other 79 or so cats in the
neighbourhood may very well take it into their heads to prove you wrong for
no other reason than that they're cats, and *can*. Perhaps you shouldn't
issue such a challenge :-)
