Default I have to smile

It's 9.40 pm and Boyfie is hunkered over his ceramic dish staring hopefully
into it for his 10 pm sprinkle of dry food.
He gets his wet food in a stainless steel dish and his dry in the ceramic
one.
He knows very well what he's doing but I'm studiously ignoring him. If he
gets it early, it will get earlier and earlier ;-)

Yup. Waffles usually starts reminding me about his 6:30 p.m. serving of wet
food at about 5:00.

You can't blame him for trying though.

Judith

Makes a change about moaning about starvation.

Who's just fallen for the looking at a bowl of wet food and the I don't
like that food is there another flavour I could try expression. Sootie got
her wish and ate all of the different food. I know I'm too soft.

The flavour, oh, the flavour is not quite right ;-) Boyfie tried it once.
He decided against the flavour of his food and when he refused to eat it
because he wanted better/different I simply removed it until he got a better
appetite.
Next day any food was fine. Any flavour at all.

As I said I'm a big softie. she knows how to play me and I love it. DH
does not get the same treatment.

The only reason I don't give in to requests about "different flavours would
be nicer" is because my vet said it's a bad idea to allow dogs or cats to
get picky over their food when they are not ill otherwise there's nothing
left to tempt them with when they are.
It's not because I'm not soft-hearted. Having nursed several dogs and KFC
through chronic renal failure where lack of appetite is a real problem I
want something left in my armoury.

I remember weeping as gradually every nice food worked for a while and was
eventually rejected.
So that's why, because I know Boyfie is in good health as he was just
checked, he either eats his good quality food or he doesn't. It's no good
saying "I don't fancy the tuna flavour today.."
It might seem harsh but it might enable him to live longer if he gets CRF in
the future.
