thanks for the reply, Carolyn. last night he finally showed up and i
took him to a vet, only to find out that treatment would cost about three times as much as i could possibly afford. it really shook me up wonderring what to do and what would happen to him. then, for some reason, God smiled on me and i saw late last night that the swelling was gone and this morning i found the puncture where it had ruptured. he's back to his normal self. and i have some AB medicine i can give him until the danger is past. what an awful weekend. solong, Louie Carolyn wrote: Hi Louie, Your cats abscess could have many causes. It could have started in the tooth or be from a cat bite/scratch or a piece of food lodged in a tooth etc. Whatever the cause it needs to be treated. It needs to be drained so a visit to your vet would be adviseable. He has infection there and antibiotics will be needed to prevent the infection from spreading and causing him big problems. Some abscesses will burst on their own but they are painful and the sooner you get it treated the better. Hope this helps Regards Carolyn "Tom" wrote in message news:Zdu1b.226069$o%2.103962@sccrnsc02... |
