Dennis has an appointment on May 4 to sit in the hospital in Bangkok an eat a mango in front of them. They will stand by with one of *their* epi pens (don't want to waste ours!) and save him in case anything happens. Poor Dennis, he's been avoiding Mangos for 2 months now, just in case. Just last night, there was a Mango Margarita bash and Dennis had to drink vodka and soda :-( Life's rough ;-) That sounds scary! I hope the doctor visit will go well. |

I'm personally allergic to mangos (they are on every other tree down here) but there are, as in other allergies, variations and intensities. As long as I don't eat them, all is well. Unlike many, I can handle them, cut them up, even mix drinks with them. Some allergic people can't even handle the fruit skins, much less the pulp. Sure hope Dennis is allergic to something easy to find out. I remember hearing about a peds nurse who went into anaphylatic shock after spilling some ampicillin suspension on her arm. She had no idea she was allergic, and it took a while before they figured out what caused her reaction. "badwilson" had some very interesting things
to say about Proof of the Mothership!: sigh Would be nice, Hop. Would be nice. But we now know for 100% sure that there is no epi pens in Thailand. At the big, main hospital in Bangkok, the best hospital in Asia, they have to actually send people to the US or Europe and have them hand carry epi pens back here for the hospital to use! Yikes! They don't sell them because the quantity is so limited. But thankfully Dennis got one from a guy he works with who is allergic to bee stings. And Dennis' mom got him 6 in Calgary (back home) and there is a guy who works in Southern Thailand who was recently in Calgary and he rendezvoused with Dennis' mom and she gave him 2 epi pens and he brought them back with him. Now we need for him to give them to another guy who is coming up here from S. Thailand on May 3, and we'll have 3 whole epi pens...woo hoo! I'm sure I'm missing something :-), but can't they just be shipped to him? -- "Don't mess with major appliances unless you know what you are doing (or unless your life insurance policy is up-to-date)." - John, RCFL |

No, because they have to stay at a temperature range of between something like 17-30C, so it's hard to make sure it stays like that when in the mail. Too risky to ship it and then if you need it in an emergency if it's gone bad, you could die. -- Britta Sandpaper kisses, a cuddle and a purr. I have an alarm clock that's covered in fur! That is the first thing I thought of when I saw the picture in the camera. But you can't see Amber's long fluffy tail in the picture. And his round bulk is mostly fluffy hair. He is actually quite slender. I haven't heard anything about Vino for some time now. What antics is getting up to? Hmm, well I wouldn't call Vino slender. But he has maintained a weight of 12 lbs for all of his adult life, so at least he's stable! Vino's doing well, very happy to have both his meowmie and paw home at the same time. I suspect that the people who took care of him while we were gone last fed him a lot of treats because suddenly he's become a major food hound. He's trying to get food all the time and licks our plates, something he rarely did before. I'll have to wean him off that. Also, he has developed a very accurate internal clock for waking me up in the morning. He comes in every half hour on the half hour starting at 6 am. This morning I was visited at 6 am, 6:30 am, 7 am and 7:30 am before I finally got up. I have had to remove all objects from the shelf on my headboard and apply another coating of Tabasco sauce to the electrical cords. Little ****! Vino's 6th birthday is coming up on May 5. We'll have to celebrate a couple of days early because we'll be in Bangkok for Dennis' allergy appointment and a Cinqo de Mayo party. -- Britta Sandpaper kisses, a cuddle and a purr.
