Default Ode to a Lady

Ode to the life of a lovely lady.

Long ago in dogs years, entered a puppy in a hunting pack breeding pen.
A lovely tri-color beagle with a sweet disposition and a love of
people. As the years passed, she learned to be a hunting dog and also
was a mother to many various copies of herself, in fact, about 13 sets
of puppies though the last ones didn't make it.

One day the hearing she needed to be part of the pack finally faded and
she was left with several other hunter dogs too old for the work. She
gathered them together and a band of kind humans took her and the other
lostlings to a new place. She was very sick with heartworms and very
old for a beagle. She'd seen much of life and she's always been 'good
girl' to the beloved humans.

As she recovered from being spayed and the heartworm medicines, she
remained sweet and tractable. A human who was taking care of her
needed to go someplace so she caqme to a new place. Wonder of
wonders, she was not kept in a pen or barn! She was brought INSIDE!
She had a REAL HOME!

She was very ill though and didn't know how to get outside for nature's
calls. A funny pad with a thing that smelled like 'pee here' was put
in the inside den they had created with the softest pillow she had
ever seen. Life was glorious! The only problem was, they had a CAT.
And the CAT lived indoors too! There was even a buddy beagle who
SLEPT WITH THE CAT! Never slow on the uptake, she decided she better
learn to love CATS if she was to keep this comfy first and final real
home.

Long slow summers and warm indoor winters ensued as she charmed
everyone she met. She grew to be known on RPCC and went on several
adventures. She loved everyone and was loved in return.

Finally though, one day she realized it was time to go though she
didn't want her beloved humans to cry. Eventually it was too much and
her humans knew it. They said goodbye for now with many final kisses,
to meet again in that special place, over the rainbow bridge.

We are all so very sorry to hear this. It is truly wonderful that Mabel
was able to know love and comfort and happiness for her final years, but
very sad that her time with her loving family couldn't be longer.

All of us kitties here send our absolute best purrs, and Starr da Dog
sends her best tail wags and meows (yes, she has learned how to meow) and
the humans send their prayers. May the hearts of those she left behind
heal quickly, and we know that Mabel's days are now filled with peace and
happiness and warmth.

That was a beautiful story, Auntie Carol.
You loved Auntie Mabel Anne, took good care of her, loved her and gave her
the final act of being pain free.
Mabel Anne always loved you back.
It was the hardest thing for you to do, but the kindest thing for Mabel
Anne
No animal, cat nor dog should get that cancer monster.
..I know you and the other 2 foots in your home and Cash Pup and Daisy Chan
will all miss Auntie Mabel
May God bless you and comfort you in your hour of sorrow.
Our Mom Kyla is saying prayers for the 2 foots mabel Anne left behind, for
comfort.
We are all purring loud , also for comfort for your family.

Love and comfort,

Mosey, PookyKat, Sqweex and Pipps and our Mom -- all very sad for your
home

Thanks you and to all others. Cash and Daisy are now aware she's not
coming back. They knew she was real sick yesterday. They spent the
day laying near her quietly.

For all that we feel at this moment, weare greatful for the time we had
and that is what matters. The days of love outweigh the current grief
we feel for ourselves at her loss.

We will stretch our arms out to another elder dog soon.
