Spot purr!
Last night was Spotty's turn to sleep in the bedroom. This morning
when I woke she was sleeping next to the pillow. I started gently petting her, and she started purring loud enough to be heard. This was a first for her. In the past I could sometimes feel the virbrations of her purr, but had never actually heard anything. As for the integration with my two, it's coming along slowly but surely. When I open the door and let the two groups mix, Sammy and Spot usually "almost" touch noses in greeting, before one of the other hiss and they back away. LB still seems to think Spot is evil incarnate, and growls whenever Spot comes into the room. Spot seems to be following the advise given here for me - Patience, patience, patience. Spotty advances as close as it seems LB will allow, than lays down and goes to sleep. When LB lets down her guard, Spot inches a little closer. It really seems like Spot wants to make friends with both my girls, if they'll give her a chance. And, it seems like my girls are getting used to her - just want her to keep her distance. The best thing is that Spot seems to be learning that she doesn't need to chase the others from the food. She still watches whenever someone else is eating, and occassionaly checks when they're done to make sure there's still food in the bowl, but no longer chases anyone away. -- Steve Touchstone, faithful servant of Sammy, Little Bit and the Evil Spot with loving memories of Rocky (RB) [remove Junk for email] Home Page: http://www.sirinet.net/~stouchst/index.html Cat Pix: http://www.sirinet.net/~stouchst/animals.html |

Nice to hear the integration is progressing, and especially that she is starting to trust the food source. -- Marina, Frank and Miranda. I thought, since I started petting her before she was really awake, it might awhile before she gave a repeat preformance. Nope, this evening she climped up on my chest as I was in the recliner. I started petting her and she started kneading and purring like she'd been doing it all her life. Guess it's another level of trust gained/given. -- Steve Touchstone, faithful servant of Sammy, Little Bit and the Evil Spot with loving memories of Rocky (RB) [remove Junk for email] Home Page: http://www.sirinet.net/~stouchst/index.html Cat Pix: http://www.sirinet.net/~stouchst/animals.html |
