A funnel cake is made by heating up a pan of hot fat. Then you

Anybody for a nice Greek Gyro? (My favorite fast food). MLB

I'm such a pushover for any food suggestions. There is a nice new Greek
cafe and deli not half a mile from here. I've got to check it out.

I hope Finnish funnelcake is better than USA funnelcake. I ate it
once in CA and was quite disappointed..just one of those things
that looks a lot better than it tastes, IMHO.
Recently at a Harvest festival here I found a new weirdity on a stick.
Mac 'n' cheese. Deadly grease but good.

Depends on how it's made. The county fair here has an *awesome*
funnelcake. One I went to over on your side of the mountain was
completely awful, but another (another county fair) one was really,
really good.

It's been said elsewhere, that the grease has to be a certain
temperature, otherwise it ends up tasting very flat and heavy.

Hop, I have to agree. I've never had it anywhere else, only here in
California, and it was terrible. As you said, it certainly *looked*
like it was going to taste good. It was not only greasy, but way too
sweet.

Recently at a Harvest festival here I found a new weirdity on a stick.

That sounds like it ought to defy the laws of physics.

It is probably a case of sufficiently-hot grease cooking the outer
surface quickly enough to seal off the inner portion of the funnel cake,
vs. cooking slowly enough that the grease has time to penetrate all of
the way through. The worst french fries that I have ever had were at the
student lounge in graduate school; the fryer evidently didn't get the
grease hot enough, as the fries were both totally limp and totally grease-
soaked. To make things worse, there wasn't an exhaust hood to capture
any oil spray, so the entire lounge, chairs and tables included, was
coated with a sticky layer of old grease.

Does that sort of explain something?

I've never been very enthusiastic about fried food. What furred up
my coronary artery was probably a lifetime of cheese addiction. When
I was a student in New Zealand I discovered you could buy cheddar in
20-pound blocks - they would only just fit in my fridge. If they'd
criminalized it that would have been enough to convict me as a dealer.

bathroom and realized that there were five cats on the bed. *Everyone except
for Sonya and Miss Calico Girl were snuggled up. *Tanada, QC, and Merlin

myself. *Huey was tucked between Rob's ankles and Pine Cone was snugged
between my bottom and the edge of the bed. *I found it amazing that we could
fit that many of us on a Queen bed.

lol! I've been finding 5 cats on the bed as well. When I get home
from work I turn on my electric blanket and within an hour all 5 cats
are scattered over the bed. They usually get up and get a snack when
I come to bed but by 3 am (usually when I get up to go to the
bathroom) I find all 5 of them are back in bed with me.

A couple of days later, Rob and I went to Wal-Mart and picked up a cheap
space heater. *Later, of course, I had to get up to use the bathroom. *I
noticed that everyone except Huey was on the bed. *Huey was stretched out at
an angle to the heater, exposing his beautiful sausage belly to the warm.
His tail was straight out and his front paws were crossed under him. *His
back paws were contracting and expanding in a sensual rhythm and an obvious
smile, punctuated by snores that lifted his upper lip stretched across his
muzzle. *I almost wet myself while staring fascinated at my Hoodyman.

This reminds me of Hobbes. In summertime and winter he would sleep
near the vents in the house. We used to keep one of the cat beds
beneath the heat vent. We moved it to the top of the armour because
someone is always sleeping up there. Selena would sleep in the bed
and lay on her back exposing a pink belly to the heat. Please be very
careful with the space heater! Do you have an electric blanket? That
would at least keep you warm when in bed.

I've been down with sinus infections from our weather. *It has generally
been raining just enough to trigger mold growth. *I've become a devotee of
Advil and Afrin. *They both seem to work as a rule. *I also have some stuff
that helps with the ear aches I get. *Not good.

Rob is gradually getting weaker. *A few weeks ago he was able to jump out of
his chair and walk off. *Now it takes more effort. *He is having a harder
time with his bodily functions than before and is less able to articulate
what he wants to say. *I seem to get used to one level of Rob's condition
only to find that he has slipped into a different, and usually, lower level
of ability.

Purrs on the way for both of you. Having met Rob I know how frustrated
he must get when he can't articulate what he wants to say. I could
see some of that to a very lesser degree when we were together earlier
this year.

Not that anyone needs to try funnel cake more than once in a
lifetime, but some are much better than others.

I thought I'd heard of nearly everything on a stick. Cheese is
good. Zucchini is good. Mac 'n' cheese? That I'd try.
