Jellicle Ball 2013 - A Banquet

My dear friends, feline, canine, and otherwise, we have been granted
an opportunity to remember the lives of our beloved family members
who have preceded us to the Rainbow Bridge. This is a time of sorrow
as we remember that they are no longer with us, but it is a also a
time of gladness, as we know that they are now healthy, whole, and
heppy. We have also been blessed with an opportunity to catch a final
glimpse of them, in their new healthy form, and for that we can be
most thankful.

Since we are a community, an extended family, let us now us come
together to remember the lives of our loved ones through one of this
community's favorite activities - a banquet. The banquet room in the
hotel on Cat Island is all prepared, with long tables filled with a
wide array of foods that should appeal to all present today. The
favorite dishes of our departed loved ones are also present.

So please, everybody, join me in the banquet hall to celebrate the
lives of those who have gone.

Daisy-chan rushes off to the kitchen as Cash helps set up tables.
Mosey sees Iowna sniffing about and gathers her to help carry
decorations to the island kittahs. At her next trip Iowna has 4 tables
cloths on her back and a baggie of napkins. She stops at each table as
island kittahs lift off what they need. When she's done with that
load, she goes back for more.

Cash comes in with a huge ice sculpture embedded with mousicles and
shrimps. It's on a plate on his back steadied by 4 mancats and 4 more
mancats carry a long board. A final smoothing is done to the center
table cloth then Cash comes up and the board is set over a towel on his
back. The ice sculpture is carefully pushed up the board to the table
by the 8 man kittahs. Cash once freed puts his paws carefully on the
table to look at it. It's quite pretty and sparkly. He remembers the
taste of mousicles and licks his lips. There's plenty even for the
doggies.

Meantime Daisy-chan finds all well in the kitchen but a few of the
things she brought are sitting by crystal bowls as they were not sure
what to place them with. Daisy sets to opening treats to disperse
among the tables as Iowa enters for another set of tablecloths.

Askaki-chan (head waiter) is trying to figure out how to properly stock
a table for mixed kittahs and doggies then sees Iowna and abducts her
from the tablecloth detail.

'Abscond ya kittahs! Iz a higher purpose fur this doggie!'. Bowing
neatly to just the right level he awaits her answer then a kittah
giggles. 'Sorry Asakai-san, she kint see you bow'. Meantime Iowna
felt a faint whoosh of air and is bowing nicely. She quirks her head
up and asks 'kin I help Askaki-san?'

Askaki-chan smiles and asks her to sniff for a proper mix of kittah and
doggie dishes for those who will be at mixed tables. Shyly he admits
he is not used to that. Iowna grins and starts sniffing then sorting
things. She explains most go for both but she's not seem kittahs eat
blueberries much anna doggies are nit much into nip. She with an
artful sniff, places little dipbowls of tuna, clams, blueberries,
steamed green beans and sweetpotatos. Little bits of pumpkin grace the
sides of dishes of baked fish and sashimi. Iowna quietly explains
kittahs are all meat mostly but doggies like a bit of otherstuffs.
Mostly meats but they like a little veggie and fruit too.

There is a stir as the kitchen is told to finish up. Iowna and
Daisy-chan rush to their room to getfinal dressing finished just as
Cash arrives to help.

all da sniffs come separate. Den, follow yur sniffer!" says Iowna.

Lucy Lu tries it. At first it all smells wonderful then she starts
noting some bits smell more wonderful. Without peeking she loads a
plate then steps back and opens her eyes. "OHHH! Dats totally neat!".

Lucy Lu gazes at her plate as she notes bits of dark meat chicken, a bt
of ducky breast, some sea bass sashimi and a small freshly steamed
Chesapeake Blue crab. There's even a dibble of tofu and cream salad
with a green bean and a tiny dessert of whipped cream and fresh purple
plum (a Japanese variety).

Samwise watches then tries it too. Grinning he comes back with a ducky
leg, fresh sashimi ahi (upscale tuna), 2 fish sticks (Japanese, whole
fingerling fish on a stick, grilled), a dibble of baked banana and a
furikake rice ball.

Iowna grins and carefully closes her eye (Playfully joining in) and
selects 3 strips of bacon, a ducky breast, 3 green beans, a small sweet
potato slice and a tiny sliver of apple and 2 blueberries then scents
something wonderful but she's too short to reach it! Cash gives her an
ear lick and pulls down a mousical for her. Popping her eye open she
pretends to gaze at her plate and goes 'OHH!' then snickering off to
the big table with everyone else.

Cash follows up with a plate of sashimi chicken, a small bowl of dashi
broth with long-life noodles with a raw egg cooking in the heat, a baby
carrot, 5 blueberries and 2 bluecrabs. He also brings and extra plate
as he's pretty sure Lucy Lu isn't quite sure how to open a blue crab
critter.

Sitting across from Iowna and next to Lucy Lu, then demonstrate with a
crab on the spare plate. Cash lays his paws over it's sides with it
belly up and Iowna grabs the diamond shaped center to remove it. She
then tucks her legs up under the table and both paws in the small hole
to hold it down while Cash fits his in as well and pulls back, opening
the shell neatly.

Daisy-chan is bringing out a final dish (a mouse-pudding recipe from
the local cat-munity) and hurries to get a plate then joins the empty
seat next to Mosey. She selected 2 teriayaki 'fish sticks', a
ducky-broth bowl with steamed whole shrimps and scallops, a blue crab,
and some of the mouse pudding. Adding her crab to the opening plate
she selects one that has been opened and thanks the 2 friends.

Daisy-chan giggles and pokes Mosey in the shoulder who nose poinks her
back with a giggle then as Cash looks up from his soup everyone busts
out laughing. A long life noodle is over his nose looking a bit like a
fu-man-chu.

felt a faint whoosh of air and is bowing nicely. She quirks her head
up and asks 'kin I help Askaki-san?'

Askaki-chan smiles and asks her to sniff for a proper mix of kittah and
doggie dishes for those who will be at mixed tables. Shyly he admits
he is not used to that. Iowna grins and starts sniffing then sorting
things. She explains most go for both but she's not seem kittahs eat
blueberries much anna doggies are nit much into nip. She with an
artful sniff, places little dipbowls of tuna, clams, blueberries,
steamed green beans and sweetpotatos. Little bits of pumpkin grace the
sides of dishes of baked fish and sashimi. Iowna quietly explains
kittahs are all meat mostly but doggies like a bit of otherstuffs.
Mostly meats but they like a little veggie and fruit too.

There is a stir as the kitchen is told to finish up. Iowna and
Daisy-chan rush to their room to getfinal dressing finished just as
Cash arrives to help.

They will be down soon.

Oh, I hope herownself iz feelin OK. Myown Meowmie iz goin to da hoomin TED
next week to be shotted in herown hand! Kan yoo beleev it? Sheze doin it kuz

Iowna pokes Cash but his mouth is full so she pokes Daisy-chan.

'Yes Iowna, what do you needz?' Says Daisy-chan.

'I is looking fur a big claw soz I kin nip it open fur dem. Dere
should be lots onna dat plate I kin sniff dere!' says Iowna.

Giggling servitors land a spare plate before her and lots of them big
tough claws. She snaps them open easily to the sweet flesh within.
Counting, she adds every 6th one to a side plate so Daisy-chan's claws
can finish the job and share the sweet meat (her paws are not designed
for this). She passes the rest ready for little bitties and other
kittahs on down the line.

Cash whispers quietly to one of the helpers and little dainty bowls of
cream along with little ones of melted buter showup among the kittahs.

Daisy-chan demos a cat claw pulling the meat out of a cracked claw and
dipping it.

Cash smiles at the antics. He also holds a seat next to him hoping
Samanfa will show. With a little grin, he suspects as dapper as he is,
she wants a fellow more her age. Ah well. He's still a dapper fellow
at a mere 8yo. He puffs his chest just a little and joins in witht he
fun.





Mosey, Meowy, PookyKat, Sqweex, pipps, BobQat, Mimzy, and the
bitties, Tygur and Mayzy wook at awl da gud fudz, mayke der selxshunz
n sit daown at uh bigbig taybul. Mosey tinks hiz nip shampain gwass

Lucy Lu & Samwise make their way to the banquet table. " Every thing
looks go good." Lucy Lu spots Iowna near the tables. " Hi, Iowna.
It's Lucy Lu." Lucy Lu holds out her paw for Iowna to sniff. "Hello,
Lucy Lu. Are you enjoying the food and drink?"

"So many interesting dishes I don't know what to try first?"

Iowna laughs and says 'your sniffer is the best way. Mind trying a
doggie trick?'

Lucy Lu looks curoius and nods.

" Ok, close yur eyes and lean to da table. Sniff. Hold still until
all da sniffs come separate. Den, follow yur sniffer!" says Iowna.

Lucy Lu tries it. At first it all smells wonderful then she starts
noting some bits smell more wonderful. Without peeking she loads a
plate then steps back and opens her eyes. "OHHH! Dats totally
neat!".

Lucy Lu gazes at her plate as she notes bits of dark meat chicken, a
bt of ducky breast, some sea bass sashimi and a small freshly steamed
Chesapeake Blue crab. There's even a dibble of tofu and cream salad
with a green bean and a tiny dessert of whipped cream and fresh purple
plum (a Japanese variety).

Samwise watches then tries it too. Grinning he comes back with a
ducky leg, fresh sashimi ahi (upscale tuna), 2 fish sticks (Japanese,
whole fingerling fish on a stick, grilled), a dibble of baked banana
and a furikake rice ball.

Iowna grins and carefully closes her eye (Playfully joining in) and
selects 3 strips of bacon, a ducky breast, 3 green beans, a small
sweet potato slice and a tiny sliver of apple and 2 blueberries then
scents something wonderful but she's too short to reach it! Cash
gives her an ear lick and pulls down a mousical for her. Popping her
eye open she pretends to gaze at her plate and goes 'OHH!' then
snickering off to the big table with everyone else.

Cash follows up with a plate of sashimi chicken, a small bowl of dashi
broth with long-life noodles with a raw egg cooking in the heat, a
baby carrot, 5 blueberries and 2 bluecrabs. He also brings and extra
plate as he's pretty sure Lucy Lu isn't quite sure how to open a blue
crab critter.

Sitting across from Iowna and next to Lucy Lu, then demonstrate with a
crab on the spare plate. Cash lays his paws over it's sides with it
belly up and Iowna grabs the diamond shaped center to remove it. She
then tucks her legs up under the table and both paws in the small hole
to hold it down while Cash fits his in as well and pulls back, opening
the shell neatly.

Daisy-chan is bringing out a final dish (a mouse-pudding recipe from
the local cat-munity) and hurries to get a plate then joins the empty
seat next to Mosey. She selected 2 teriayaki 'fish sticks', a
ducky-broth bowl with steamed whole shrimps and scallops, a blue crab,
and some of the mouse pudding. Adding her crab to the opening plate
she selects one that has been opened and thanks the 2 friends.

Daisy-chan giggles and pokes Mosey in the shoulder who nose poinks her
back with a giggle then as Cash looks up from his soup everyone busts
out laughing. A long life noodle is over his nose looking a bit like
a fu-man-chu.
