Bun-bun has a serious case of the zoomies tonight. Wabbit is tearing
around the cage. Literally tearing.... And *all* of the kitties are
positively mesmerized. Some of them are making chirpy noises at the
bunny. I wish I could let the bunny out to zoom around the whole
house, but I fear what the cats would do, and the litterbox training
is not quite complete.

Today I put wabbit in pet carrier for an hour while I cleaned and
reorganized the cage & contents. I took all of the pine shavings off
the floor and put them into the litter box, with all the poo. Now the
floor is plastic covered with newspaper, and bun-bun is shredding it!

Since the cleaning, I've been moving all of the "accidents" into the
litterbox. Bun-bun watches my every move and seems to be processing
the information - I can see it thinking: "must use litterbox rather
than floor". We shall see how it goes. When I have not seen a mess on
the floor for two days running, I will let bunnykins have the run of
one bedroom for a while, without cats present. Or perhaps with one cat
at a time, restrained by harness and leash.

I have now learned that pine shavings are not good for rabbits. They
contain "phenols" which can harm the animal's liver. Feline Pine is OK
since it's been kiln dried which removes the harmful compounds.

Also learned, wabbit needs chew toys. Must find out what sort of chew
toy is safe for wabbit.

How about ground corncobs for bedding? We used to be able to buy them
at the local farmers elevator years ago. Some pet stores now sell
them. Do not know if they still have them. Do a search for ground
corncobs.

Here is a link for an articles about ground corncobs:

Thick wooden branches and believe or not bones- we used to get those
pigs ears they sell in petshops for dogs. Bunnies don't chew they gnaw
and they don't care about taste but they need to gnaw to keep their
teeth down

Carrots

Actually, I already tried giving a carrot. Much to my surprise, rabbit
ignored it.

Quite a lot of rabbits aren't keen in carrots- indeed carrots and all
root veggies should be fed to bunnies as occasional treats- too many
people assume that as they've seen cartoon bunnies chomping on carrots
the carrot is a stable food for a rabbit- it isn't and the effects can
be awful- rabbits digest their food both in their stomach and in the
caecum where fermentation goes on- carrots etc are rich in natural
sugars and as a result if overfed can cause bloating and I am not
talking about bunny feeling a bit of indigestion- the bloating can
cause gut twisting so the gas can't go anywhere and untreated bunny
suffocates due to the massively bloated gut hampering their lungs or
the internal pressure can hamper the blood supply to the intestines
and cause necrosis there

Sounds like my cat ignoring human tuna I've never had a pet rabbit (my
aunt did but she just lost her husband so I'm not calling to ask)

I found this via Google:

I'm following your bunny threads with great curiosity. Someone at
Petco was adopting some out a few weeks ago and I actually thought
about it. I'll see how it goes with you first I think.

You need to have enough space for a large cage. Ours is 4'x5' which is OK
for a baby bunny but a full-grown one will need more space. I am hoping this
one will be a "housebun" soon and cage will be superfluous.
