Whereas I actually do a *dance*, a literal dance, while I sing Licky's
special song to him. He doesn't have to say I'm "retarded" - he just
stares at me, usually with one ear slightly to the side, as though he
thinks I'm insane.

Yep, I was referring to the weather. I love the roads themselves - they
were among the best-maintained I had to drive.

In general, if chains are required to go somewhere I just don't go there.

Chains makes sense on cars, but on a semi, I have to wonder. There should
probably be an upper weight limit for allowing vehicles to drive on hilly,
icy roads.

As it is, she did too little too late.

She was my best friend and my soul mate.
Whether she drank too much doesn't matter. She was the sweetest,
kindest person I've ever met. She would do anything for anyone. She
always had a smile and a kind word.

And yet here you are telling us her most private things. I don't get
you. If you're angry with her for speeding up her death, I think you need
to go talk with someone, face to face, like a therapist or support group.
Then again, maybe this is how you're dealing with her death. I sure know
I was angry with everyone and everything after my son died. I will just
stop reading the Christy posts for my own peace of mind. I hope you will
too. I'm also going to have to stop thinking about her cats because I
can't do anything about that either.

She shared a lot of things with this newsgroup and others.
I don't think I'm violating any of her wishes.

A lot of things got dragged out in some heated arguments on the other NG,
so what.

Am I tarnishing her memory? Certainly no more than her family did with
the memorial website.

One story that was repeated to me was the one of her mother saying,
"Christine Ann. You're so ugly. Your hair is so straight."

Yes, I know it's only one side of the story. But it was repeated to me
with such regularity that either it was true or she believed it was.

I met her mother and sister and father and brother. With the exception of
her father, they're all total assholes. They lived to put her down.

There's a reason her father left her mother in Wisconsin and moved to
Washington. Same reason Kili left Wisconsin and headed west.

Her mother is a bible thumping bitch.

I believe in God, I don't believe in religion or preaching.

I should end this rant now and just let this go.
Some of you folks have been really nice. Others I can forgive.
If you choose to hold a grudge, that's your problem, not mine.

My parents were always putting me down and made me feel worthless, so I know
where you're coming from. It sucks. Both my sisters told me that as long
as they've known me, I've always been 'picked on', and my 2 sisters and I
love each other to pieces.
I don't go to church, but believe in God, but don't understand
His ways sometimes.
Peace in your heart and you are in my prayers for comfort..

Kyla, as one who has been where Allan has to go, don't try and put him in
"Stages". Trust me it is different for everyone. Please don't do that to
anyone. There is sort of a rhythm to this part of life but until you have
gone there, and the circumstances may be totally different for you, please
don't do that.

Having watched the two youtube videos,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFURD5dp_QU
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QCHIZQmiOY

all *I* see is two cats who seem to be enjoying the outside, and male
voice that seems to hold them in some affection.

Since when was it a crime to let cats outside? When was calling a cat
'Retard' considered abuse?

I know that two youtube videos is hardly the 'whole story' but there
is nothing in those videos to suggest that the owner of those cats is
in any way abusing or neglecting them. They look like healthy happy
cats that have a good relationship with the person behind the camera
to me.

If folks have any concrete evidence that Alan is abusing and/or
neglecting the cats, then it needs to be reported to the authorities,
not posted about here. Despite personal opinions of him and his
character, posting to a public newsgroup implying he is an animal
abuser is innapropriate at best and libellious at worst.

Yowie

Thank you. I know I should have snipped this, but it bears repeating.
There is NO PROOF that Alan is harming those cats in any way. I met
Alan last year, when he knew that there was a limited time left for
Christy, and that person would NEVER harm her beloved friends. Please
either find proof and contact the authorities or stop maligning a
person's reputation. In other words, either put up or shut up.

Once again, thank you.

I have nothing but love for those little critters who own me (or at
least think they do)

TFM®

Yes, thank you Pam.
Alan, they probably give you a lot of comfort and laughs I'll bet.
That's what they're there for. I thought of you on your plane ride to
Maui with Christy's ashes

The worst trip of my life was from the funeral home back to our home.
I had her remains in the seat beside me with my hand on them the entire
time. I kept talking like she was actually there.

I talked to her when I was spreading her remains in the waters of Maui.

For lack of a better term, I'm crying like a bitch as I type this.
I loved her so much.

That's understandable It's okay to cry, you need to get it out.

Whenever I come home from work these days, Puakea Makana (Gift of the
pale white flower) runs to meet me. Then comes Chloe, the retard.
Pua brought me a rather large lizard this afternoon, but Chloe saw fit to
take it.

It was a good thing. I'm not big on lizards.

See how the kitties love you and are trying to comfort you?
Bringing you prezzies.

Pronunciation key
Puakea = Poo ah kay ah
Makana = mah kah nah

I met my DH in Oahu in 1976, and I learned a nice word
Da Kine Pakalolo.

Did you get the pictures of The Get Together I sent you?
I could only find one set.
I hope they didn't make you cry harder. You're still in the denial stage
of grief.
It's going to take time, but there are people who do care about you.
Take care of yourself and the kitties will help you too.
Aloah

I lived in Denver from 1945-1976 and the mountains are beatuiful. Is Tiny
Town still near Golden, home of Coors Beer? And every year, people from all
over go to Colorado to watch the Aspen trees turn beautiful. My widowed
step mother lives in Grand Junction and I think I've only been there once.

Smokie Darling (Annie) - who despises going over the passes in bad
weather. *Last Friday, 16 April, the road was closed in both
directions because of a massive snow storm (we weren't up there,
twybi).

I'd guess he meant the weather (winter) which from the news stations
and weather advisories here, sounds like a very bad traveling handicap
up there - interviews with people stuck n their cars, both sides of
the
big "passes" (tunnels and zigzags through the mountains, for you
fellow flatlanders); vids of truckers wrestling with their chains with
blizzard
winds blasting snow and ice in their faces; long lines of all type
vehicles
lined up at the roadblocks - don't look like anything I'd want to get
into,
even if Hugh Jackman was waiting on the west side to greet me with
open arms, LOL. One thing I forgot to mention is I drive a light truck
with only front-wheel drive and the earliest version of anti-lock
brakes.
I ain't going up there in winter.

It's funny, I've seen news reports with the vehicles having all that
trouble, but in all the times we have driven over the passes, I've
seen chains on a semi only twice (out of 600 or 700 trips). Granted,
when it's bad, I don't go over, but there it is.

I used to have a rear wheel drive, 72 Plymouth Satellite, with the
brake rotors that would lock up at a moment's notice (for no
discernable reason). That was fun going over. Don't blame you
though, I have a Jeep, and I still don't like going when it's "snowy".

Hey, I'm in Denver in May (3rd) for a doctor appointment (4th). Any
chance I could talk you into dinner with hubby and me at Stapleton
Center Radisson on the 3rd, my treat?

Smart, smart man, you are. I wouldn't go if I didn't absolutely have
to. Beautiful drive in Spring (discounting this year, mind) and
summer, even early fall before the first snow falls.

If you do, you can come out here, put on jeans and snap-button plaid

discussed a few days ago. If you decide to go this route, try to
develop a Texas twang....they don't have a regional accent here, but
twang (think Bush) goes a long way toward folksy friendliness locally..
Whatever you do, no mention of the east coast (your schooling) for any
reason.....make vague references to cattle.

I suspect mentioning that I grew up near Berzerkeley would be worse.

I dunno. These natives don't have the hostile 'tude toward /
californians

That entirely depends on which side of the mountains you are on.
Denver and the Eastern Slope don't mind Californians, but the Western
Slope has some real issues with them. They can visit, but "natives"
don't want 'em staying. Silly, I know, but I'm not a native, haven't
lived in California since I was 12, and they *still* hold that against
me.

They don't mind Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont Easterners
giggle. It's those big city Easterners they have trouble with.

that
Oregonians do (learned the reason the legendary sign "Welcome to

Lived in Medford for 3 years after moving from California. Dad was a
"local" boy though, so they forgave him for bringing his California
kids with him.
