Default Whiskers and Paws, the charity shop cats

Jack Campin wrote:

From when we went round last week, I'd say their current batch are a bit
leaner and rangier than usual. They have a lot of black and white cats
at the moment, that seems to be an Edinburgh thing.

It had never occurred to me that Americans didn't say "garden". Over
here, "yard" suggests a patch of concrete strewn with car parts.

Oh. we say "garden", too, but here it means flower and/or vegetable
beds. We call a plot planted simply with grass either a "lawn" or a "yard".
