Default Plane Crash Update

Hi everyone. Yes, when you first hear it, it's a great shock. But we
are hearing everywhere now that there is no evidence that this was a
terrorist attack of any kind.

A small private plane flew into a high rise building on the Upper East
Side of Manhattan about two hours ago. So far, there are two people
known dead. There was a fire in the building, which is now out. It
seems that it was a terrible accident. Details are coming out little
by little.

It does seem awfully chilling that it occurred on the 11th, though,
doesn't it?

Why are planes allowed to fly in the vicinity of skyscrapers to begin
with??

Apparently this is a small plane registered to the Yankees Pitcher Cory
Lidle.

They are supposed to keep a separation of 2,000 feet laterally from any
buildings, and to fly at least 1,000 above the tops. Sometimes people goof,
sometimes they're showing off, sometimes they have a problem with the plane.

There was an unconfirmed report that he might have swerved to avoid hitting
another plane.

In private pilot ground school, they taught us that 95% of all plane crashes
are caused by pilot errors. There are a lot of errors a pilot can make, and
sometimes it takes only one. Other times, you may be lucky.

It seems that he was flying and was one of the people who died. His
death is not more important than anyone else's, of course, but it is
somewhat more poingnant because I know that he leaves behind a lovely
little family. Of course, any of the unknown victims might have also
left a family and I grieve for them all.

I read that only the pilot and the co-pilot died. I guess nobody in
the apartment building was killed.
