Dylan quit eating meat last year. He decided that since he is ABLE to
choose a healthy diet that does not require him to eat animals, and
since he does not like the idea of eating other living things, he is
not going to eat animals any more.

I make a point of only purchasing meat that comes from small farms
that do not use mass-producing factory-slaughtering methods. I will
also eat anything that has been hunted and killed by myself or my
acquaintances. I do not have the same ethical issues with killing and
eating animals as Dylan does, but I want it to be done with respect
for the animal and its sacrifice. Respect means the animal had a
decent life and a swift, painless-as-possible, "personalized" death.
(I am currently trying to wean myself off restaurant-meat and freezer-
dinner-meat since I do not know what conditions those animals lived
in).

It would be nice if there was a brand of cat food that would not get
its meat from factory-farm sources. However, since cats are obligate
carnivores, I would never try to make them vegetarian.

I understand. I did not go to the website, but I can imagine what it
was. It may be blown out of proportion, since sometimes those things
are, but no doubt it is still horrific.
I don't have a problem with eating meat, per se; but I *do* have a
problem with it when the nice clean slab of meat I get from the
supermarket counter got there by way of horrific suffering on the part
of the animal. I can't believe *anyone* who calls themselves an animal
lover could say that doesn't bother them.
I don't eat beef anyway, but I do try to buy organic, freeranging
chicken. Never Tyson.

They still slaughter them, Pat. Ever watch the PBS Series 'Frontier House'?
Where they raised the chickens in a crowded coop and then chopped the head
off the one who wasn't laying eggs? Turned her into chicken dinner. Or
slaughtered the family pig even though the young boy had named it and he
cried. They had to butcher it to survive. Same sort of thing. As Matthew
said, this is just on a mass production scale. A video won't convince me to
be a vegetarian, I don't give a crap who narrates it.
