Well, I think nobody should wear dresses. ;-)

I almost never do. The one exception is for some Toastmasters speech
contests. In one District there is a man who has a lot of influence. He
feels that women should always wear dresses or skirts and men should wear
skirts and ties.

^^^^^^
LOL! Not very conservative, is he? (Sorry, hate to be a spelling cop, or
should that be typo cop.)

I stopped wearing dresses and skirts about 15 years ago. I just don't
feel at home in them any more. I used to wear mini skirts a lot as a
teenager, though.

ROTFLOL! I guess I was even more steamed up about his attitude than I
thought. I meant to say "suits and ties". ;-)

I wore skirts or dresses for most of my life. I hated stockings, garters
and garter belts, and I hate pantyhose. That's one reason I wear pants now.
I also feel more comfortable in pants, and I don't have to be so careful
about how I sit. I had good legs, though, and I still do when I first get
up. I'd probably wear skirts more often if my legs didn't swell throughout
the day so that by noon they look a little chunky and by bedtime they look
downright fat.

What do you guys think? Should you not wear a mini skirt - even if
you have killer legs - past a certain age?

After reading everyone's comments and opinions - all I can say is:

http://www.stupidvideos.com/video/ju.../chicks_101_2/

that video won't work for me either in firefox or IE

Kristy

It's a commercial for Niquil. I've seen it on TV serveral times - the
"roommate" one.

There's a video after the Niquil commercial .... yuk!

Women here tend not to wear sleeveless blouses without a jacket.

Although in the new workplace one of the princesses wears a thong (yes with
pants, very tight pants), but it still seems a bit much to me. We even had a
bare midriff one day. I guess I'm just getting old.

I think it depends on the style. I'm 45 and I wear short skirts from time
to time (and yes, I have killer legs! LOL). The difference is, they aren't
super-tight micro-mini's up to my butt, they are tasteful (tailored, if you
will) and only 2-3 inches above my knee. And I'm not wearing them with tube
tops or glitter spandex, if you get my drift. I have a number of nice
skirt-suits I'd wear to the office and the skirts came up above the knee. I
didn't look like I was trying to be 20 again; I looked like a polished
business professional.

I do think people should dress for their body-type, as well. I can't stand
seeing a 250 pound woman squeezed into something made with lycra so all you
see are bulges and bumps. Wear a short skirt or dress if you wish, but make
sure it *fits*. Buying a tight stretchy dress isn't going to make you any
smaller.

He feels that women should always wear dresses or skirts and men
should wear skirts and ties. He has enough influence that not
dressing as he considers appropriate can actually hurt your chances
of winning. When I compete in his District, I wear a dress.
Otherwise it's jeans for everyday and slacks for dressup.

Joy

I'm much more comfortable in dresses, as a rule. At my last job the dress
was "business casual" so most women came to work in slacks. I chose to wear
dresses and skirts. I just feel less restricted in them.

Workplace attire is totally different from running around having fun attire.
Some people abused the notion of "business casual" to the point where my
former employer had to conduct a "Do's and Don'ts" fashion show at one
point. No, you can't wear sweats to the office. No, your skirt can't be up
to your bum. No, you can't wear tube tops. Yes, you may wear slacks;
tailored style (like khaki's) but not skin tight. You may wear sleeveless
blouses but not tank tops. You'd think some of this would be common sense
but apparently it wasn't.
