I despise PETA. They are a bunch of hypocrital idiots. When Katrina hit
they sent a grand total of THREE workers to the New Orleans area to assist
with the pets that had been left behind. Big wup.

I hate PETA. They are a bunch of inane counterproductive idiots IMO. There
was once a chance for the to do real good in the world and now they are
simply a liability.

I think PETA is much more fond of tooting their own horns than they
are of actually doing anything constructive. I favor ethical treatment
of animals, and I'm not happy about experimentation on them,
certainly, but I find PETA's "methods" obnoxious and counter-
productive. Most of what they do is get in your face or scream at
people who disagree with them. There was a local newspaper article in
California about how members of PETA went to the home of a restuarant
chef who works at a restaurant that has Foie Gras on the menu. They
broke into his house and intimidated him and his family. What animal
did they help by doing that?

The Humane Society is a lot more effective overall when it comes to
helping animals. And they understand a bit more about effective P.R.
too.

They would have ended up dead doing that in my home. With the new laws in
place you are considered armed and dangerous if you break into a home. They
home owner does not have to retreat anymore

I am all in favor of PETA but not the people that are doing the efforts to
make PETA a effective tool. A long time ago PETA was sponsoring shelters
They were doing ours but some of the fanatics came in a started their BS
out on their a@@ they went one even in handcuffs.

Two to the chest, one to the head, we'd like 'em alive but

we'll take 'em
dead! We also believe in dealing with terrorists like PETA

invading a home
like dealing with any other criminal scum invading a home.

Center of mass
to knock them on their ass. The 10 pounds of tabby sitting on

my left
shoulder & arm as I type this wouldn't approve of some idiots

breaking into
our home either. When there's no time for 911, try 1911

instead!

And these days they don't even research what they protest about, and are
fast losing credibility because of this. If you've heard of the Aussie sheep
mulesing furor PETA has been starting, it is a classic example. PETA started
calling for a boycott on Aussie wool because of the mulesing, calling for it
to stop immediately. They didnt bother to check up on why it is done, which
is to prevent the sheep from dying a painful and slow death being eaten
alive by maggots . There has been research going on into alternative
preventative methods, which do need a boot up the bum as nothing in rural
Australia changes quickly, but if they stopped mulesing without any
replacement treatment, millions of sheep would die in this horrible way.
PETA still has egg on their face over this, but are still trying....

Mulesing is painful stuff and it doesn't stop fly strike on other
parts of their body, which obviously can get fly stuck, although less
often than a daggy sheep bum.

Plenty of sheep farmers don't get their sheep mulesed though. Many of
the sheep around Armidale weren't mulesed. They would get crutched
once or twice a year (basically the wool around their rear end was
clipped short).

However, there are other things about PETA that I disagree with.
Firstly, their resistance to importing Thai elephants into Australia
for the Taronga and Melbourne Zoos. Life in these zoos would be of
such a high standard I have no doubt in my mind that the elephants
will be happy there.

The other gripe I had with PETA was when they distastefully bagged
Steve Irwin out so soon after his death. Putting aside any other
argument about Irwin, his purchasing of huge areas of forest for
preservation so as to protect the wildlife, is a good thing in itself.

I have mixed feelings about PETA. They do have a place so I wouldn't
want to see the organisation going belly up. However I am wary of some
of their activities.

Yes. They would have much more influence and clout if they didn't embarrass
themselves quite so often with over-zealousness. Of course the dopier celebs
getting involved and waving their lack of knowledge around doesn't help
either.
