Heh, heh. Meowchat predates lolspeak. Who is the keeper of the story of
how it came to be? Anti Heather? Anti Melissa? I think it dates back to the mid 90s. I think it was Anti Kate who was the first to "meow." Okay, a little digging and this is what I found:
