KITTEN DROWNS WOMAN
http://www.koat.com/news/14993696/detail.html
SANTA FE, N.M. -- A woman drowned when she apparently tried to retrieve a kitten from a 55-gallon rain barrel at her home southeast of Santa Fe. Santa Fe County Sheriff Greg Solano said 48-year-old Deborah Hill was found by her husband Sunday afternoon after he returned home from running errands. Solano said the couple had dragged the plastic barrel inside their home because they wanted to thaw ice that had formed in the barrel. The barrel, which Solano said was tied to a door so it wouldn't tip, was about one-third full of water when the kitten fell in. Solano said Hill apparently was standing on something to reach down for the kitten when she slid in. sponsor Detectives said the kitten is alive, and most likely climbed out over Hill. -- Rob Cypher robcypher.livejournal.com YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED - RESISTANCE IS FUTILE |

Wel, she succeeded in rescuing the kitten! (Although probably not in the way she intended.) ;-) She also proved Darwin right. It was not stupid enough to bring a 55 gal barrel of water (only 1/3 filled) into the home where the kitten could get at it so she had to make sure it was tied down so it would not tip over and then put herself head first into it since she could think of no other way to help the kitten out. What was so important about 20 gallons of rain water is another question. |

I can't believe I'm responding to this but....
I CALL BULL****! 55 Gallon drums do not 'tip' over. No sane person would tie one to a door to prevent it from happening. It sounds like the 'author' of this bull**** threw this in to cover the obvious way out of this problem. I don't know where you're from, but you boys build some stout-ass drums in
your parts LOL I ain't never seen a 50 gallon drum (technically, 55 gallon) weigh anywhere near 400 pounds. -Larry "Long Rod Silver" wrote in message ... a 50 GALLON DRUM WEIGHS OVER 400 POUNDS!!! A 125 pound woman wouldnt weigh enough to tip it over.. and if she fell head first into the thing she couldnt get out.. I based that weight on 1 gallon of water weighing 8 pounds.. so 50
gallons = 400 pounds.. It was: "...about one-third full of water when the kitten fell in...." |
