Default Introducing: Licorice!

A friend of mine, noticing my pathetic lack of imagination in the area
of *naming pets*, took it on as her personal mission to name my black
kitty. The other day, after numerous suggestions had been dismissed as
too this or not enough that, she finally hit on one: "Licorice". Isn't
that cute? Even though he's really a black and white tux cat, he still
does look like a stick of licorice, especially now that he's a long and
lanky adolescent.

I'm already calling him "Licky Boy" as a nickname. That's not just a
nickname for Licorice - it also refers to the fact that when he's very
cuddly, he likes to lick the tip of my nose.

And he's sound asleep in my arms this very minute.

My brother had a black and white cat named Liquorice When he went with
me to the shelter to adopt a companion for her, he fell for a half-Siamese
black male kitten .... who the fosterer had named Liquorice! Rather than
have two cats with the same name, he named the black kitten Allsorts.

Oh, reading this I have to remember to buy some Basset's Allsorts when I go
out shopping later. I am very fond of liquorice.
Hugo Katt, the all-black one, sends his purrs to the other black kitties.

Very cute and appropriate as well. Welcome to the RPCA fold, Licorice.

Oh, I like that spelling. Makes it more clearly a 3-syllable word. (I
don't know if people do this elsewhere, but I've heard the word pronounced
with only 2 syllables: "Lick-rish". Ick.)

Welcome to the family Licorice. We hope to see lots of pictures of you
online soon (hint hint)

Here are a few that I posted under his old name "Socks" (the rescue org
had named him that). He is the black and white kitten, and he's featured
with his brother "Jake", who was adopted about a month ago by an adoring
woman who came to the mobile adoption. These pictures are between 2-4
months old already, so he looks really little in some of them. Many of
you will already have seen these, but for those who haven't, have a look:
