I just got some butter (I try to use the heart healthy spreads but

vegetable dish okay not really fresh but corn on the cob with butter
and some peppers/cucumber/red onion/red cabbage side salad and a
splash of sweetcorn and red pepper relish.....

Sounds okay to me!

I'm spoiled, because when I was growing up, we grew our own corn, so for me
it has to be at least picked the same day. However, your menu sounds great.

OK, you're desperately trying to lose weight for a big event, maybe a
sister's wedding, and event you really, really want to look good for.

Taking chocolate off the table for the ladies...

LOL! I haven't been a chocoholic since around 1974. Seriously,
chocolate doesn't interest me anymore. There's a store on the
mainland called "The Chocolate Tree" where they literally make
chocolate, chocolate covered brittles & caramels. And jelly beans!
I've seen it many times but I've never been in there. Sweets aren't
my thing.

what's the one food item that, no matter what, no matter how
restrictive your diet it, even when you're not particularly hungry,
when presented in front of you out of the blue, you can't resist and
gobble down?

Crispy potato chips I try to avoid buying them because if I have
them in the house I *will* eat them. When I grill hamburgers I even
put potato chips on them! I'm not worried about my weight. I just
know snacking on junk food all the time isn't good for you.

Jill

Chips for me, also. For me the size of the bag is the serving size.

I prefer my chips barbecue flavored. That used to be the case for me, but
I've managed, over time and with great struggle, to train myself to put some
in a small container and eat only that amount, once a day. I still don't
buy them very often.

I did run into a sweet I found irresistible recently. It comes from Trader
Joe's. I forget the exact name, but it's caramel popcorn that has been
dipped in chocolate.

Sounds more than OK, it sounds delicious! Unfortunately it's going to
be a while before I can eat corn again - but I really, really like it.

My favorite chip is "Salt & Vinegar". OK, gross follows... Ben calls
them "douche chips".

For me it's cocktail shrimp with cocktail sauce. I'm sure there's a
*lot* of others as well, but that was the first one that popped into my
head (I'm starting this thread with ulterior motives and I'm really
interested in and will appreciate your answers).

There's plenty, but the first one that come to mind is cheesecake.

I think one of my favorite "cooked" deserts is (again, taking chocolate
off the table) strawberry short cake.

Me too. As "Outsider" mentioned, I can't stop eating chips until the
bag is empty.

That's one of my (many) favorites too. Another dessert I really like, and
don't even feel guilty about eating unless I go overboard, is (are?)
meringues. They're basically nothing but egg white, air, sugar and
flavoring - no fat and very few calories.

Never mind the chocolate, I will happily eat a whole packet of
LollyGobbleBlissBombs all by myself.

And then there's the timtam, but we aren't supposed to be talking about
chocolate :-)

I've never heard of the BlissBombs things, but I agree about Tim Tams.
