Hi Matthew,

There is a profusion of Daves! The Dave who is Lesley's partner is
different from Dave G, who Yowie wrote about. Lesley and her Dave
live in London (as far as I know) and Dave G and his Dot live in
western Victoria, Australia. Both Daves are bed-ridden and coping
with it badly, but for very different reasons.

Needless to say, Spock and Persephone are purring for all they're
worth for both Daves as they have a Dave of their own whom they find
useful.

And I'm really sorry, Matthew, to hear what you went through with your
father. My very belated condolences. I hope that your life has got
better since then and that "heck" is a dim, painful memory.

Lesley I am sorry I really haven't been able to follow everything going on.
I am going on this post and the other post Yowie did

First off let me say If Dave gives you any trouble about getting help. You
tell him to lay there and shut up that is from The RPCA GROUP. We are men
and we are just as bad as cats for being stubborn and hiding pain.

Second Never take no for an answer from a insurance company demand what
you need and never stop till you get what you want. This problem Yowie
explain in another post no matter where you live if Medicare is going to
cover it GET ON THE PHONE TOMORROW MORNING AND DON'T STOP TILL YOU HAVE A
DATE SET. If you play the placid game they will walk all over you. I went
thru the same problems when my father past away many years ago HE DIED
from the exact same thing Dave has wrong with him. He pasted away due to
complications of his problem he actually only had less than 10% survival
to have the surgery done now this is years ago. He past away in the early
1990's. Medicare play the same f@cking game that they are doing with you.
It took no lie 58 phone calls to get them to do their f@cking job.

Third get all the help they will give you If Dave has a problem with this
tell him he can make put the complaint in the complaint box it is located
between the rock and the hard place.

Fourth I am not really sure who Lovey is but tell Lovey the cats go when
the pigs fly and take her opinion and put it where the sun don't shine.
Shut up and get on with nursing him if not leave. If is a proven fact
animals help the sick just by their presence.

I am sorry but you know me I am blunt I tell it how it is to whoever it is.

Lesley I went thru heck and back when my father passed away but technology
has advanced some much. That I know the Gods have plans for the both of
you. I am holding you all in my thoughts, prayers and lighting a candle so
you know there is always a light shinning bright for the both of you.

Ok I knew I had something wrong with the post I apologize. Too many people
to keep track off. Good laugh everyone my old age is showing

Thanks Tish Yes I did recover a while ago. I hate to say this my father is
better off. He had diabetes, deterriating arthritis, heart disease and
quite a few other things wrong. Before he was going to finally have the
surgery he had like a 5 to 6 % less than 10% chance to survive if he had
surgery. And if he did survive it was a 90% chance he would back in the
hospital from complications in less than a year

I try not to use profanity in my post any more "heck" was just the term I
went thru trying to get him taken care off and helping my mom get threw it
She is still around and kicking and old pain in the butt But still love
her.

thanks for clarifying everything but still meant what I said just divide
to who needs it

good laugh Going to get my St. John Wort and gerital and down a bottle

"Lovey" is a nurse who has a condescending way of putting her hand on
Leslies arm and calling her lovey while making some truly outrageous
statements. Such as that Leslie should get rid of the cats while Dave is in
hospital. Just chase them off. That Dave might be upset but he would be
better off for it. Another time told Leslie, "you know lovey I know Dave
and what he needs better than you do" Leslie has only known him for twenty
eight years.

Home care here in Leics will not do cleaning if there is a partner in the

You won't get hoovering and tidying, I'm afraid, under any circumstances.
What you "will" perhaps get is help for Dave with getting up/dressed,
personal care, washing the body if you say you cannot do it for him. a
ready meal microwaved at lunchtime if you are at work in the day.
A night time call to undress, toilet, and put to bed. This could be as
early as 7.30 due to the demand for put to bed calls.

The point most people forget is that until this happened and Dave lost
the ability to walk, he was in no way disabled. If we can get him
walking then he can hoover, tidy, clean worktops (Better than me!) get
up, dress/undress himself, use the toilet, wash, comb his own hair
(What little he has! He's going bald on top and Lovey cut the rest
off), shave (when he wants to), take a bath, pop a ready meal in the
microwave (Hell! Cook a meal from scratch- he makes a great chilli!),
go to the shops, visit the bank etc etc- I've never percieved him as
fundamentally disabled he just has to do things differently from me.
His two functional limitations are unable to carry two things at once
unless he uses a tray and can't really peel vegetables- well he can but
it's slow so he uses canned, frozen or prepared ones.

So it rather seeme that home care wouldn't be much use. What he needs
is physiotherapy to get him walking again!

This is normally only done for people who live alone. Whatever you are
offered, say yes.
It won't be housework, sorry about that. I've been out of adult work since
2003 but that is one thing I know hasn't changed. You have to use your DLA
to purchase private cleaning. Dave does get Disabled Living Allowance, I
presume?

At the lowest personal care rate only because until this happened you
could say his only mobility problem is he doesn't like the underground.
He'll get on it if he has to through it's not that he can't use it

Firstly at the moment she is in close proximity to Dave- not too close-
she's suddenly developed a huge fondness for the women's section of the
ward!

Secondly Sarsi is in negotiation with Nox re; Supply of weapons grade
plutonium

However Nox for her own reasons (and who are we to argue with the Queen
of Darkness?) seems to have moved FWO interests closer to North Korea
