Is there another (or actual) name for it?

All I know is that Dot has a white flap, and it looks funny the way it
sways back and forth as she walks away.

I think it's charming. When my middle brother first saw Persia (she
was very sleek and slender, but had the flap) he asked, "Is she
pregnant?" Nope!

The flap can be a squishy adipose udder in a voluptuous kitty. Or it can be
a floppy dewlap in a slender kitty. But I haven't seen one holding kittens
yet.

One time I was at a party and they were playing salsa music. They had a
large cat who had one of those flaps, and when at one point he ran across
the room, the flap was swinging back and forth in perfect time with the
afro-latin beat.

It is the primordial pouch. It often hangs lower and becomes more
noticeable after spaying. It is also common in male cats but seems more
noticeable in females. It is not fat or excess skin. The theory is that
the primordial pouch serves as protection when cats get into a cat fight and
one of the cats may use its hind legs to scratch on the underbelly of the
cat it is fighting.

MaryL

Thanks for that information MaryL.
Pipps has one of those primordial pouch's and she is 7 years old.
Oh have ANY of you heard of the cat treat called Greenies?
Charleen Welton sent us some for our cats and these treats have chlorophyll
in them that make the cats go bonkers.
The cats get the zoomies, and the Greenies can be purchased at PetPros,
PetCo, Petsmart and other pet stores.
The Greenies aren't too expensive, and we give our 4 cats a few each morning
and at night.
I wonder whatever became of Charleen?
She was a sweet woman.

My neighbor gave me some and yes, Persia liked them. But she's on a
prescription diet so it's a very rare treat.

I used the soft Greenies as pill-poppers when she was ill and had to
take medication. She caught onto that trick quickly. I could see the
wheels spinning in her head. "Why is she giving me treats?" She
quickly discovered there was a pill hidden inside and ate around it.

The Greenies aren't too expensive, and we give our 4 cats a few each
morning and at night.
Kyla

I grow four types of cat grass in a small planter for Persia every year.
She's not particularly fond of the rye grass. But she devours the
wheat grass, barley grass and the oat grass. It's like this one:

Thanks, Kyla. And welcome back. Keep writing!

I think I read somewhere that Charleen prefers not to write but may be
lurking. I also would like to hear from her.
