Boyfie is cross

"Christina Websell" wrote in message ... He's forgotten how lucky he is. I rarely leave him and he moans about eating at 6 p.m instead of 3.45! I've decided I've spoilt him far too much. He will now not be allowed to have his own bedroom and sleep on his duvet all day. He will have be out all the time on rat patrol until evening when he will be allowed another meal, after that he can sleep in the conservatory which will be opened at 11 pm. Until when I get up,and he will have to have earned his breakfast by catching a few rats. Otherwise he will get none. ****************** That's rather harsh, don't you think? Persia is spoiled (obviously) but I wouldn't (for example) banish her from my bedroom at night if she cried for dinner and she didn't get it at (in her kitty mind) the appointed time. Nor would I shut her out of the guest bedroom, which she thinks of as "hers". So Boyfie got a little cross. Now he has to be a successful ratter otherwise he doesn't get fed? Honestly, words fail me. Jill It was a joke, Jill. Tweed ***************** Next time try a smiley It didn't come across as a joke. Jill So after 9 years of loving him, and posting about him, you actually believed I was serious? FGS!! |

Especially with the harsh weather at the moment and winter ahead. Let him sleep in comfort and privacy, as he is used to, and feed him at the usual times. Cats like routine and he was probably wondering what was happening yesterday when you weren't there, and asked you about it, at length, later. Deb. You should all know me better than that. It was a feeble attempt at a joke. ~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm glad to hear that. I took it seriously (as did some others), and it disturbed me. Thanks for clarifying it. MaryL Now, how long have you all known me? so how likely is it that I would do such a thing? It was a joke. I love my boy very much and he is indulged to the n'th degree. He has his own armchair downstairs and bedroom upstairs and acres outside to roam. I don't think I can give him a better life than that. And I got him neutered way back when he first came. It did take a while to get him in the house so I waited a while for him to trust me, and then I took him for his snip. I resent being accused of not giving him a kind home by someone on the group who doesn't neuter their males and lets them run around outside impregnating every unspayed female. |

A short statement about "rat patrol" might have given us a clue, but your message was the type that probably needed a voice behind us for us to understand. On the other hand, I have had the same problem on occasion when I have said what I *intended* to be a joke to someone, only to have them take it seriously. I did respond to someone else on this group that I know you love Boyfie and hoped the threat was only a momentary reaction in anger (or words to that effect). I'm glad we were all wrong, but I hope you can also understand that we were all worried when we saw that message. We do sometimes see someone react "out of the norm" if they are not feeling well or if something unexpected has happened. MaryL |
