Minnie - My Former Feral

Hello,

This my first post to this group, so please bear with me if this is
an all too common thread. After purchasing my first house about six
months ago, A friend who was moving out of state offered me this cute
little bundle of fur that she was a foster mom to. I took one look at
her and said yes. So I moved her to my house, unfortunatlly durring
the course of remodeling the front room she found her way into the
cellar. She loves it there, anytime I was home and awake she would be
hiding there. At night she would come up and eat use the litter box
and look out the window from her perch. For a while she cried at
night, but has since stopped. I did manage to get her out of the
cellar for a month but she has now broken the cat flap which I had
installed on the cellar door, so she is back down there.

I work Monday through Friday and can't spend alot of time talking
to the cellar. It is going on three months since she arrived, and she
was a little over a year then. How much longer do I have before she
warms up to me and will at least be in the same room as me.

I went through something similiar with a feral cat. I found I was able to
gain her trust by hand feeding her. Don't leave a bowl of food for her.
Feed her by spoon (preferably a plastic one).

She'll have her own schedule. How about adopting another cat who might
befriend her and bring her up into the light? Or at least give you the
cuddles you need.
