Those glue traps are *extremely* cruel. Do yourself, your cat and the
mice a favor and either get the kind of traps that kill instantly, or
get Have-A-Heart traps and release the mice elsewhere.

Amen to that one. I was wondering when someone was going to mention that. I
hate those traps. The mouse starves to death in terror if no one kills it. I
hate the other traps too, but at least getting whammed on the head by a
spring-driven bar has got to be a quicker death than those damn glue traps.

Glue traps are extremely cruel and I would never consider using one to
catch mice. I think this was a sign from the universe for you to find
other means of dealing with the mice.

I also hate those glue traps. I have never had to use traps of any kind in
my apartment, because of my two cats. We also have two cats at work, and
Stinky does the mousetrapping there. I think they know to just stay away
now. I'm surprised the original poster's cat(s) haven't caught the mouse
for her.

I agree. I feel sorry for the poor mouse as well as the cat. At least the cat
will survive. All animals feel pain and it's just plain wrong to inflict it on
them. I agree that we don't necessarily want mice in our homes but this is the
worst way to get rid of them...this or poison. The humane traps are best. Of
course, I've never had a mouse either but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't use the
glue traps or poison.

Just wanted to say thank you L. Briggs for not making me feel bad as a few
others did for trying to catch a mouse who has been eating our food in the
panty for the past few weeks!! I am unemployed and have four kids to feed
and was tired of seeing food with little holes in it from a damn mouse and
having to throw it all in the trash. I am taking your advice about putting
their food in a container, but they are curious cats and if the pantry door
is left open they like to go in there and sniff around. IMO, I'd rather see
a mouse stuck in some glue and put it in the trashcan then open up my panty
and see a smushed mouse (or decapitated mouse) any day! I have a really hard
time understanding why some of the posters in here feel sorry for the mouse.
After reading the posts from some people in here I wished I had never said a
thing. Maybe I should get their addresses and send the mouse to them when
it's caught LOL? J/K.........a

If you decide to send the mouse to me, be sure not to ship it in cargo..I hear
the conditions are terrible. :-)
Seriously, no one intended to make you feel bad. It's just that the people,
most of us, on this board are very tuned to any kind of animal suffering. We
love our cats, but mice are also living, breathing creatures. I simply believe
that no creaturel should be inflicted with pain, or terror at our hands if it
can be prevented. I could never throw a live mouse trapped in a glue trap in
the trash to die. Maybe you can, and that's why you don't understand me and I
don't understand you.
Usenet is like a street corner--you throw your opinions out and brace yourself
for the flack. I've been flamed a hundred times for one thing or another. I
also reconsidered my position on things a time or two because of it. I hope you
do.

Well, imagine yourself stuck in something you can't get out of to eat,
and you are slowly starving to death. Perhaps then you will understand.

One place where I used to work had a pest control company that used
them. One night I found a mouse stuck in it. It was crying so pitifully
I took a broomstick and broke it's neck with it. Since then I would
never use them, and made the company use quick kill traps instead - at
least while I was there. I felt so bad after that for a little while -
having to kill the mouse myself. Poor thing. I don't understand how they
can possibly be considered humane versus a bar mouse trap.
