Elavil (amitriptyline) for cat pain management?
Anyone have any experience of this for cats? Vet suggested it for Sunny's arthritis. Hugely ironic really, as I take it myself for depression, but obviously that doesn't tell me anything about how suitable it is for animals.

Elavil (amitriptyline) for cat pain management?
I've never heard of using elavil for pain management. I had a cat with
pretty bad arthritis and my vet and the specialist that I saw never suggested using elavil. Sue "purpleprose" wrote in message news Anyone have any experience of this for cats? My parents late cat was on it for a while for Feline Cognitive Disorder (kitty alzheimers). There's a great book that lists medications and their use for pets. I'd check mine for you, but I'm not at home right now. Here's the link to it in Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Pill-Book-Guid...e=UTF8&s=books |

One of my older cats was on it for 5 years for inappropriate urination, and it worked quite well. Half a pill was good, more zonked her out completely. My husband was also on it, but for pain management. Bobble -- Save the earth... it's the only planet with chocolate. Sonny's web page -- http://web.ncf.ca/ai151/index2.html |
