Cats & their nicknames
I know this subject has probably been brought up a bazillion times here, but
it seems that all cats have nicknames (some have several), as well as their 'formal' names. But how many here have cats that actually answer to their nicknames (even if the answer is only a twitch of the ear)? Tennessee will answer to both his name, and "Buckethead" And just about 1/2 hour ago, I was having a light lunch & flipping through the channels on the TV, when I saw Moe out on the (enclosed) back porch. Jeff calls her Taterhead, but I call her Moe-Tater (kind of goes with one of Mimi's nicknames: Mimi-Tot). When I saw her earlier, I called out Taterhead.... she looked up, and trotted over to me! I was kind of surprised. I guess she was expecting me to throw a bottlecap. We spent a good 2+/- hours last evening of me tossing a bottlecap & her "fetching" it and bringing it back (and about 75% of the time she would drop it right at my feet!) to be tossed again. DH & I were *trying* to eat dinner and watch a movie ("Are We There Yet" starring Ice Cube - kind of funny, but yet predictable). The game ended when my arm got tired and Weeble kept pouncing her whenever she went past him - which was 2x each toss: once to get the bottlecap and once to bring it back. Once she dropped it where I couldn't see it, and sat there staring at me expectantly. I said "Where's it at Moe?" and she turned her head, looked right at it, and looked back at me. She was showing me where "it" was! I am *SO* glad that Moe doesn't have opposable thumbs, or she would be running that can opener to open every can in the house looking for gooshy food (she won't find any, since it gives Ping the poopies, we stopped buying it, all she'll find is fruit, veggies, soup & chili). Spot's (RB) main nickname was Bean. I don't know why. He came to it,
b/c we called him Bean at least as much as we called him Spot. Katz |

I guess because that's what we usually call him. Luna responds to Princess very well and Maya likes Girly. The rest of the gang gets called by their first names most of the time. -- Victor M. X-No-Archive: Yes
All my cats have come when I whistle, these days it's almost a contest who can fly to the kitchen door fastest. Nicknames? Well, Case is aka GI Jane, though I don't call her by that, because if an army travels on its stomach then Case's tummy qualifies her. -- "The web has got me caught.
