There's no imperative reason except to facilitate understanding. That
is especially true if there is more than one response. But snipping is
better than either top or bottom posting. One shouldn't have to scroll
through the entire message. Comments are easier to follow if they are
added directly after the part the poster is commenting on. If a user
needs to go back and read earlier messages, he should use the reference
headers to catch up with the thread.

Im sorry, but your logic is flawed. if your posting on the bottom so
"people joining the thread late" can follow the sequence, then why would

you
trim? they wouldn't be able to follow. and I don't think EVERYONE should
have to scroll on the off chance there is new comer to the party, why
shouldn't the new comer have to start at the bottom and work up.. its not
all that hard to figure out where one post starts and another ends.. they
are usually interrupted with big ol warning posts like the following...

Problem is when some people post at bottom and some at top. The post becomes
one big mess. It only works when everyone follows the same rule, either top
or bottom. Since the convention is to post at bottom you need to conform or
quotes in the post are all over the place.

I post at bottom on newsgroups to follow the convention and post on top for
email reply.

So they know what comments I'm responding to in particular without having
to read the whole post over again (like I just did with this post). I
don't do it for the people coming in the thread, I do it for the people
I'm responding to who probably already read the thread. I find it really
annoying people top posting cause most of the time I have to go read over
the post again to see what exactly they were responding to in the post
(and usually top posting involves just quoting the whole article below
what they say so I have to wade through to remind myself what particular
comment they are talking about).

People who are just coming in who are curious what the thread is about
should just go back and read it.

I do it however the software dose it. Using outlook it does it on top, live with
it. When I'm using Newsie on my TT030, it quotes on the bottom, live with it.

Moronic posting style corrected. You have not been charged for this
service but I reserve the right to charge in the future if you make
the same mistake again.

As they always say - only a poor workman blames his tools.

It is about time you learnt how to format a proper usenet post/reply -
which has nothing whatsoever to do with the software you use.

http://www.uwasa.fi/~ts/http/quote.html will give you a good start.

Failure to learn will label you either a moron or a selfish,
inconsiderate, illiterate plonker - it is all down to you.

Bob.

You have not been charged for this lesson - however, I reserve the
legal right to charge you for future lessons if you fail to take this
opportunity to correct your errant ways.

Yawn! Damn Bobby, you're really boring. Why don't you be a typical
brit and go pick on someone you think you can beat and then get your
butt kicked.

As they always say - only a poor workman blames his tools.

I'll bet you blame your hand for poor lovin.

Who gives a ****? Nobody that means anything wrote something for
idiots like you to read and live by. I say, Pip Pip Old Man!

Oh my! A fat sloppy looking butthead that has no life is calling me
names!
This is just so upsetting.

In the USA a faggot who dresses up in womens clothes is called a
Queen.
Has anyone ever seen old lady Queen Liz taking a leak? She might be
the only one in that little island that has any balls.
