Default (Sort of urgent) "Stink free"?

Smudge peed in my car! It's a long story, but I do not know where the
actual urine stain is. So I had to find a place that sold blacklights,
so I could find the stain, and apply the Nature's Miracle.

I found a blacklight at a pet store, but it was sold only in a package
with some odor-remover stuff called "Stink Free". Never heard of it.
It uses a process called "oxidation", which claims to have been used
by the government and military for all sorts of processing.

My question: has anyone used this stuff? Was it effective? Did it
leave an odor of its own? I'll be driving for a while tomorrow and
I would like it to be in a car that smells neither of cat urine nor
of some weird chemical odor. That's why I said "sort of urgent". I
have to take care of the pee odor tonight, and would like to do it
fairly soon. So if you know anything about "Stink Free", please let
me know!

I also have Nature's Miracle on hand, so unless I hear raving
testimonials about the other stuff, I'm just going to use that.

Thank you!

Hi Joyce -
I don't have any experience with Stink Free but have used Nature's Miracle
in the past but got tired of it's odor eventually. There is a product that
I'm using now that I think is more effective - I heard about it from a
friend with lots o' cat experience and I ordered it online - it's called
"Anti-Icky-Poo" and I got the gallon jug via Amazon.

Here's the link for the gallon size:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...7765039&sr=8-1
or http://tinyurl.com/5bwfza

There's also a quart size but it's more expensive for the money:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...7765330&sr=8-2
or
http://tinyurl.com/6875p8

You could always treat with Nature's Miracle tonight and follow up with the
Anti-Icky Poo if you decide to get it.

regards,
Christine

I never heard of it, but I recommend you try Odoban, which you can get at
Sam's Club and I've seen it at some auto parts stores.

I never had any luck with natures miracle and it left a stain in the one
spot I tried it. I've had more luck with white vinegar by pouring it on
soaking the spot for 24 hours then scrubbing up really well with a rug
scrubber. No odor left, no stain and no more messes by the cat in the same
spot.

NM works well for me on cloth - which can be thoroughly soaked in it - but
not on carpet.

It's good to hear of yet another use for white vinegar!

Erm.... If that's the best claim they can make, I'd advise caution.
"Oxidation" turns iron into rust, brunettes into blondes (via hydrogen
pyroxide), wood into ashes and hydrogen into water. In other words,
there's nothing particularly mystical about it - but if the label
doesn't say what oxidizing agent they're using....

I don't remember at the moment. But it did warn not to use the product
on non-colorfast materials. Not a problem for me - I have light tan
car seats and I'm sure they're colorfast.

Anyway, I had a bigger problem, which was that nothing whatsoever
showed up under the black light. Everything else that was white did
glow, but no pee. So I ended up using the stuff on the area of the
carpet that smelled the worst.

I also discovered a paperback book that smelled pretty bad - maybe
removing that from the car will have fixed the problem. (I did this
last night, and haven't been out to the car yet today, so I don't
know the result.)

And if all else fails, there's always Nature's Miracle. And maybe a
better blacklight!

I think I'd stick with Nature's Miracle, which I KNOW works.
(Especially if you're stuck with the results for a long drive.) When
Patches (at that time an intact three-year-old tomcat) was going to the
vet for his operation, he managed to be copiously incontinent in an
unlined carrier. It spilled all over the front seat, and I thought I'd
have to get rid of the car to get rid of the odor of intact tomcat
urine. It did take several applications, but Nature's Miracle saved the
day. (Even after the first application, the stench became almost bearable.)

WHAT "odor"???? Of course different noses perceive things differently,
but I never noticed that Nature's Miracle had any scent at all!

Nature's miracle smells like rubbing (denatured) alcohol to me.
