... -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Unfortunately, I had to have Katie put to sleep. She turned out to have cancer that had spread to multiple locations. The vet estimated that she probably had only two or three more weeks to live. She didn't appear to currently be in any pain, only weak, but I decided to spare her the pain that would probably come before the end. I adopted Katie only about 8 months ago, along with her "adoptive sister", Cinders. The two cats weren't siblings, but had been together since Cinders was a young kitten. Cinders is now about 9 years old; Katie was 10. Cinders will now probably search the house for a while, wondering where Katie went. I knew that adopting older cats meant that I would have a relatively short time with them, but I hope that Cinders still has several years of life ahead of her. Sympathetic purrs to both you & Cinders. We'll light the Sad Cat Candle tonight for Katie. Our sincerest condolences. Yowie |

Oh, I am so sorry for Katie and Cinders and you. You must still be in shock. But you acted quickly and forthrightly to spare her any pain. How brave you are! {{{{HUGS}}} I hope that you eventually get Cinders aother companion. When my Sheba lost her beloved Max, she looked all over for him and meowed pitieously. It just about broke my heart. But the day he died, a friend told me about a cat she had rescued and two weeks later she brought Amber to me. But Sheba was still grieving and Amber was full male at the time. But a month later, she accepted him as a friend. But she has never loved him the way she did Max. I wrote a lovely story several years ago about their love. Maybe I ought to post it if anyone is interested. Yes, I'd like to read the story too. Yowie |

Purrs and good wishes for Katie on her trip to the Bridge, and healing thoughts, wishes, and purrs for you and Cinders. It's not the quantity of the time with them, it's the quality, and I'd say that you gave Katie good quality time. Pam, Rob, and the NC nine |

John, I'm sorry I'm so late in responding to your message about Katie. Somedays I don't have time to do any more than scan the ng for requests for purrs or RB messages. We did sent purrs for Katie when you requested. I understood what you meant by not having recognized that she had lost weight. Selena doesn't like to be handled. She won't let me pick her up and frequently would prefer not to be petted. Her allergies have gotten out of control before because I hadn't checked her closely enough because I was giving her the space she wanted. You gave Katie a chance to know a good home with a loving slave at a time of her life when most people would have passed her by for a kitten. She will be able to show off her Shard of Heart with pride when she reaches the Bridge. We lit a candle when you posted of her passing to help guide her way over the Bridge and keep you in our thoughts daily. We send meatloaf meditations to Cinders as well and hope that she isn't too lonely without her pal. Hopefully soon your sorrow will turn to happy memories of the times you spent with Katie. Julie, Hobbes, Selena and Lacey |
