Default Cosmo and Sabra

I know I have been brief in posting lately, but I am truly thinking of
all of you in need and sending purrs. Life has just hit me so hard,
and I am taking some time to deal with it.

I took Cosmo to another vet last week. I just don't know what to
think. The vet seemed very good and very thorough (this is the vet I
am thinking about switching to when my guys retire, but I hadn't
actually had a cat in there yet; just bought food), and got Cosmo's
records from my regular vets (bet they're ticked off now). She said
he is *not* dehydrated! She suggested I cut the Lasix in half, and
feed him anything he will eat of the canned variety. I have done
that, and been checking him regularly, and he still does not seem to
be dehydrated. So my regular vets may have jumped the gun, and maybe
Cosmo being difficult was his way of telling me "Mom! I don't *need*
this yet!". He certainly seems very frisky and looks better. We'll
see how long it lasts.

Sabra, on the other hand, is going downhill. It is breaking my heart
to see him this way. His eyes are not looking good, his fur is very
rough and dandruffy, and he is so thin, like a skeleton. Lately, he
is doing little other than sleeping. He is no longer greeting
visitors to get his pets, which is Sabra's thing. Two vets have said
he is basically just old and fading. Nothing has shown up on any
bloodwork -- everything was normal. So it looks like nothing can be
done except to pamper him, feed him anything he'll eat, love him, and
wait. This is hard. I don't know what I will do without my Sabra
guy.

I really wish life would get better.

Gosh, what a year it has been so far, for so many of us. Purrs for
Sabra's comfort, and that life, indeed, gets better.

I'm so sorry to hear about Sabra. It seems there's nothing to do but
spoil him as much as you can for as long as you can.

Regards and Purrs,
