Thank you very very much, all my friends, for your condolences,
emails, and virtual candles. Louise went peacefully to the RB
Tuesday evening, July 5, assisted by her TED, after living "on
borrowed time" since about February, keeping going mostly by sheer
determination. However, when her quality of life had sunk below a
certain point and she seemed to be in pain, even her TED agreed it
was time, if not overdue. She was about 15 1/2 years old.

I thought she'd cleared up the order of succession last year: the
Vice Grand Pooh-Bah moves up to become the Grand Pooh-Bah, and all
subordinate Pooh-Bahs also move up one position in the hierarchy.
These titles are appointed, not elected (in Louise's case,
self-appointed!), and are held until death, disability, or
resignation. Petunia has been doing a wonderful job of making sure
everything runs smoothly, and should continue to do so. I'll try to
find Louise's notes from her studies in Tasmania soon.

For all her other positions, the usual rules of succession and
election apply. SS becomes President, the Associate Chief Justicat
becomes the Chief, the Hurky Kitty Club VP becomes Pres., and so on.

I'll post an appropriate tribute for her at the next Jellicle Ball.
