Default Variety is the spice of life

Custer's meal-du-jour is now ground squirrels. After two baby rabbits
last week, this week he's turned his attention to ground squirrels and
brought me two in the last two days.

I have to admit when I first read this I thought that you were
feeding Custer ground-up squirrel...... It wasn't until your second
sentence that you were in fact referring to the type of squirrel that
prefers to live on land instead of in trees....

I came to my first ASSumption honestly, though. I have a friend that
fostered (and then adopted) a kitten with digestive issues - the only
thing that Possum (the cat, he's all grey) can eat that doesn't go right
through him (as in very messy diarrhea) is rabbit (plus added vitamins).
They first tried ground-up rabbit, but it seems that whomsoever did the
grinding ground up bones & everything, and that bone-meal stopped him up
(could have been disastrous, but they noticed it before it became
serious), so he now gets raw rabbit fillet.

Exactly! When I first read that I was like, "Ewww... he's grinding up
squirrels for Custer?" I thought maybe Nik was adopting a raw foods
program for him. I've heard of people grinding up whole, raw chickens
for their cats, but squirrels?? (Probably a good choice for a cat,
but pretty gross for the human.)

Glad to hear that Custer is able to obtain his own raw squirrel...
