Default sudden hairball problems...

Hi everyone,

My cat (female, tabby, indoor, 2 years old), who's never had problems
with hairballs before, has over the past few weeks started to cough
them up on a regular basis (every 4 to 7 days). Does anyone have any
insight into why this might be happening now, or have any experience
with this? Does it indicate other problems, or is it just something
that can be cleared up with a bit of hairball solution? Any advice
would be much appreciated. As my mom says, I'm a worrier.

All the best,

John

Spring is when they start to occur. Shouldn't be a problem, really. Groom
her every day to remove excess hair, and maybe try to feed her some tuna in
oil if she will eat it, to help hair pass through her system. I wouldn't
worry, keep up the hairball solution as well.

Thanks very much for the advice, Alex. I've never heard of a tuna cure.
Is tuna the active ingredient, or is it the oil? And what kind of oil
should I put the tuna in, or does it matter?

My vet told me to use mineral oil

It's the oil - here in the UK you can buy tinned tuna in oil. My cat won't
eat it sadly. But the grooming is important.
