Default Cat Fishing

When Imp gets scared he likes to hide under my bed. With the
comforters on you can't see him. But they both love the shoelace or
the wand toy. Especially if the comforter is JUST a littlebit above
the floor. I make the toy dance in front of the comforter and I know
Imp can hear and see a little bit of it. I just keep dancing the while
I'm lying on the bed.

Fishing for a cat soon pays off when a black paw suddenly shoots out
from under the comforter and pins the toy. Uh-oh!! I think I caught
something.

It's a fun game to play, especially with the shoelace which gets
grabbed and pulled underneath to be killed.

On a few rare occasions hehas been hiding her there when I've been
standing near the foot of the bed. I got my toes pounced on.

This is turning into a fun Sunday.

First, I get the sheets out of the dryer. Mmmm, nothing like fresh,
warm bed sheets. Little Feet agrees, and places his front feet on the
laundry basket, as he gazes longingly at the warm sheets.

I pull the sheets out, and Little Feet helps me put the fitted sheet
on the bed. Then there is an extended battle with the monsters under
the sheet, as I put the flat sheet on. Every now and then I pull the
sheet back to make sure the monsters haven't gotten Little Feet, and
he purrs as I tell him what a heroic kitty he is.

Finally, Little Feet takes a well deserved rest, still under the
sheet, just in case.

Buster comes into the bedroom, and leaps over the lump in the sheets,
barely clearing the one remaining monster, who claws at shadow over
its head. Little Feet valiantly dispatches that last monster, and
takes a short nap.

Meanwhile, worried about sheet monsters, Buster slinks to my end of
the bed, where I rub his tummy and kiss his head. I find a long strip
of bathroom tissue (which I use to clean my glasses), and tease Buster
with it. He bats and grabs at it, and I thin to myself, "This might be
a bad precedent, with a whole roll in the nearby bathroom...". So I
cut a longish piece of yarn off one of Senyah's crocheting supply, and
tie a knot in each end.

Well Buster loves this. He bats and grabs and chews on his string,
having a kittenish good time of it.

Little Feet, seeing that there are no more sheet monsters, and hearing
the commotion that Buster and I are making, comes out from the sheet
to investigate. He wants to play, too. No problem - two cats, two ends
on the string. So I tease both cats with different ends of the string.

Little Feet gets a little too agressive, and reaches out for more
string. Which just happens to be laying across Busters butt. Buster
jumps and spins around, to see what is attacking him from behind.

I pet Buster, and soothe him, but make sure the two ends are farther
apart this time.

Finally, Dulce Mae comes into the bedroom, and occasionally stands on
her hind legs to see what is going on. It is obvious that she is
interested in playing too. No problem, the string has two ends and a
middle - I can work with this.

So I am, to work over an old cliche, playing both ends against the
middle, and all three cats are having a great time. Every so often,
one or the other of the cats manages to snag the entire string, and I
have to retreive it and redistribute it, while all three wait with
eager anticipation.

Then Senyah gets back from church. Little Feet runs to the door, Dulce
Mae goes into the kitchen to grab a bite, and Buster lays on the bed,
playing with the string.

After fixing Senyah some lunch, I lay back down on the bed with
Buster, and we play with the string. One end of the string falls
across my stomach, and Buster grabs for the string.

Have I mentioned that Buster is a sharp and pointy cat? I have several
new claw holes just under my chest now...

Now all three cats are taking naps. I'm considering a nap myself. It
has, after all, been a successful morning of cat fishing - I've
certainly caught my limit for the day (big grin).

What a delightful way to spend a Sunday! You're so lucky, Mark!

Speaking of playing "put the sheets on the bed", I know now Bandit is
feeling *much* better...

Bandit is behaving like a kitten! I, too, washed sheets today and when I
was putting them on the bed she was running around like a little maniac
killing all the bed mice and sheet greeblings. She played "put the sheets
on the bed" so hard I had to get the sticky lint roller out to get all her
hair off (my number on allergy is to cats!).

She's even running up and down the stairs every time I do (and I do a
*LOT* - why is it every time you need something it is on the opposite level
of the house from you??) She didn't even used to do that *before* the
accident. I think after hurting for so long that now that she's feeling
better she feels like she is in her second kittenhood! I now have a 15 year
old kitten!! ;

Little Feet? And he's still Willin'?

Nice story. Of my Gang of Four, Mischief and Bernie are interested in
playing with shoelaces -- there's usually a couple hockey laces on the
floor somewhere at any given time.

If Senyah hadn't gotten home when she did, the yarn might have gotten
shredded with three sets of claws after it. But I am sure there are no
yarn greeblings left to bother Senyah's crocheting. You and the cats
worked hard and deserve a nap.
