Default Gnats!

I think they're gnats. They've been hanging out by the cat food bowls
ever since I moved to Florida. I looked around for something to kill
them but I don't like what I read on the labels. Then I found some
advice about mixing apple cider vineger, some sugar, and a few drops
of dishwashing detergent. Supposedly the sweet stuff attracts the
gnats and the detergent breaks the surface tension so they drown.

It does seem to work, but leaving that concoction around the cats food
bowls means that sooner or later it's going to get knocked over. Right
now I have it near the food area but not quite in it, and it hasn't
been knocked over yet.

Any other ideas on how to get rid of gnats? I understand from my
neighbors that it is gnat season now so maybe it will get better soon.

There was one time I managed to get rid of a bunch of gnats.

I happened to be jogging up a steep hill, when I ran into a whole cloud of
gnats just as I was breathing in very deeply. They all got stuck to the
alveoli of my lungs and died.

GROSS!! I'm glad *you* didn't die. That must have been disgusting.

I was once walking in a remote part of Scotland with my ex-wife
when we had to go through a huge cloud of flies. She breathed
one in and swallowed it. She just couldn't see the funny side
of me getting "There Was An Old Woman Who Swallowed A Fly" stuck
in my head and trying to remember it all for the rest of the walk.
