That might work for his teatime meal (3.45 on the dot) but not for
breakfast. He insists on being fed as soon as I get up and you truly
wouldn't want to make him wait because he'd drive you mad, meowing,
scratching the carpet and all the other little tricks he has when he thinks
I haven't quite understood what he asked me twice for ;-)
If I ignore him and sit down, he gets on the arm of my chair, stares into my
eyes and touches my face softly with his paw. Like "I really do have to
insist now.."

I might have to go down the microwave route.

How about opening the can or pouch in the morning, then warming it up for
the teatime feed?

I got another 6 tins, it's already gone up in price since I first wrote.
I know Sootie is a fussy eater so if she doesn't like big chunks she might
not like it. The chunks are around the size of Kit-e-Kat (which is also a
food with no sugar in btw)

Boyfie is still liking it so I might stick with it.

I'm sorry if anyone thinks I'm obsessive about sugar in cat food, I am, and
the reason for that is 1. it is not necessary and 2. Boyfie will not let me
clean his teeth and I want them to last him all his life without the trauma
of a dental visit to TED to have some teeth removed every few years as he
gets older.

At his last TED visit for his annual jabs, the vet said his teeth were
perfect, just a tiny bit of tartar, nothing to worry about. As he's 11 years
old now I'm happy about that.

I would never try him on a new food without examining closely what is in it,
and if there is sugar in, it's just a no-no.
For the UK people, just look at the tiny treaty meals, like Gourmet. In
fact, examine every brand you buy.

That's the way I was thinking about. I thought I mentioned that but maybe
not.
I'm not all that happy with his "don't ignore me or I'll claw the carpet"
but it works for him.
He could meow if he wants out, but no. He just claws the kitchen carpet
which has an instant response and he knows it.
Doesn't work for for "I want in" he has to revert to meowing.
