Last night I fell down the stairs at a friend's place. I landed with
my entire weight on my left knee and mashed it up real good. Whilst I
could move it (painfully) a few minutes after that (enough to get
myself back up the stairs) but within the hour it was resembling a
black, blue and purple soccer ball and was throbbing painfully. I was
so impressed by the degree of swelling I called some friends at about
10pm to take me to the hospital (Joel couldn't just leave the Yowlet
in the house by himself even if he could have driven me to the
hospital, which he can't (well, not *legally*))
The night in the hospital was pleasant enough - drugs, the latest
Pratchett and some nurses with a seriously *dark* sense of humour
kept me spirits up and the pain low. The xrays came back negative for
breakage, whichis good news but the doc thinks I"ve ripped up all my
ligaments and probably torn some muscle as well. I have a referrel
letter for my GP and the word 'specialist' was mentioned. *sigh*

Upshot is that I can't bend my leg at all, and I have crutches. The
cats think playing 'dash' through the crutches and my legs is a
*fantastic* game and the Yowlet is quite sure that I've brought home
two toy machine guns.
The reason I"m posting this is not for sympathy (I'll be fine) but to
let you folks know that sitting in front of the PC is painful as
there is no place to prop up the knee, so I won't be around as much
as I usually am.
Purrs and sympathies in advance for those who might need them,

Yowie the klutz.

Ouch! But at least you're providing entertainment for the Yowlet and the
clowder. ;o)

If you're paddling upstream in a canoe and a wheel falls off, how many
pancakes can you fit in a doghouse? None, icecream doesn't have bones.

Oh Yowie, I am so sorry. The legs are full of delicate little tissues that
can get messed up easily, so get whatever further attention you can for it,
so you get the right course of treatment and recovery. You might have to
stay off it longer than you thought to avoid future problems. Purring for
quick healing.

As someone who has sprained both knees and ankles multiple times you
get my sympathy whether you want it or not!

Sometimes I would rather have a nice old fasion break as opposed to all
that soft tissue damage that seems to take so long to heal and hurts like
hell.

Feel better fast!
