[OT] 7.2 Earthquake Near New Zealand
Unlurking to post that CNN's sending out breaking news updates of a
7.2 earthquake near Christchurch. The link at CNN.com points you to: http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2010/09/03/usgs-7-4-magnitude-quake-hits-near-new-zealand/?hpt=T1&iref=BN1 which I'm having trouble opening now - think it might be getting slammed. The story on the homepage begins "A 7.2-magnitude earthquake has struck near New Zealand, the U.S. Geological Survey said. Residents report damage from the quake, which hit at 4:35 a.m. local time." Didn't feel anything here, and no Tsunami warnings. However, we are not NZ, and in the scheme of things, not that close (approximately the distance between Miami & NYC) Hope everything is OK over there. Yowie |
