Lacey gets an early present
I had to pick up cat food today so I asked the clerk at PetSmart if they
carry any cat videos. She directed me to a DVD titled, "Cat Sitters". I bought it for Lacey for Christmas but of course as far as she knows today *is* Christmas so she got it early. She was asleep on the cat tree when we put it in and the first scene was a herd of gerbils (flock? gaggle?) with squeky sounds as well as bird type sounds. We watched as she opened her eyes then lifted her head. She watched a minute or two then stood up and immediately crouched very low on the platform of the cat tree. She 'stalked' the gerbils until she reached the television and she stood up on her back legs and patted at them and tried to smell them. Then she sat down and watched for a few minutes before deciding to find something else to eat - apparently the gerbils didn't smell tasty. While she was eating we watched the video for awhile (I wonder what that says about us, lol!) and found squirrels. Tomorrow we're going to show her the squirrels. Julie |

I have no idea what a herd of gerbils is called. Persia never pays attention to the TV. She's more into the "live" show going on outside the windows. There she sees squirrels galore, and birds and chipmonks too! But good luck with showing her the squirrels on the DVD Jill |

There has been a lot of matches lately, from World Cup in Croatia (Norway did a lousy job there), and Teti watched many of them. His favorite position is on top of the TV set, where he can reach down and try to catch the players or the ball passing by. Of course, it is disturbing my vision, but it doesn't matter. Many of the matches have been so boring, that Teti's hunting for players has been for amusing than the match itself. I have also caught him watching nature programs, but then he will sit on the floor in front of the TV, and just jump up and smack an animal from time to time. My other cat, Tinùviel, Teti's mother, isn't interested in watching at all. I think she is more into French "film noir", but we rarely watch such films in this house... |

That's why, when I want my cats to enjoy TV, I put on a show about cats. All my kitties love those, especially if there are loud, mewing kittens. And that way, when they get bored and wander off, I'm not left watching gerbils, but cats. Joyce |
