New guest kitty
good for you, Dan -- please keep us posted.
Christine "Dan M" wrote in message ... This weekend I got to run home again. As Nancy and I were in the driveway getting ready to go out to dinner we noticed a grey kitty standing in front of the next-door apartment. We wondered at first if it might be ShortTail Tom, but when we've seen Shorty in the past it's been short glances as he streaked past, and we always figured he was black with a short tail. This kitty was a smallish grey tabby, and wasn't streaking to the nearest hiding place. We called to the kitty and he just ignored us. But when I got my container of feral food out of the back of the pickup and poured out a bowl full, the little guy came over and chowed down. He didn't mind us petting him while he ate, even purring up a storm when we did so. I am not aware of any of our neighbors (we live in the front unit of a pair of duplexes), but Nancy is keeping an eye out to see if grey kitty appears to belong to any of the neighbors. Meanwhile we're setting out bedding material as well as food and water. We're having to keep two bowls of food in different areas, so that Shorty and the new guy can both find enough food. If we can't find out where the little grey guy lives, there's a pretty good chance that he might find himself taking a trip to TED for the Big Snip. And if he continues to be around all day and all night, indicating that he's not being cared for by a One True Home, then he might even find himself in a foster home. I can't deal with the thought of people bringing a cat home then ignoring it. |
